Was it because they communicated?
Was it because they implemented a system you like?
Was it because they created something?
Who and why?

GM Coechesse (or close) A long time ago some one was in my house(in game) looting me. I paged. This game master appeared and deleted my house and said problem solved. Now at the time I was ripped but in retrospect I learned a life lesson there.
Thx GM Coechesse!
(edit) He was fired for abuse of power!

He gives us stuff that doesn't suck. Paragons just to name one. There is a long list.

Patrick/Leurocian by far.
Because we had an email chain going where I identified many of the year old bugs with crafting that he addressed earlier this year including double rolls, ruinics dropping properties, SE craftable mage armor problems etc.
Leuro came, listened, and fixed. For that I am grateful.
A close second is Wilke. He was pretty good as well until he left to pursue a career.

He love the game
He have a good feeling for what the game need.
He can be very fast to find a problem and solve it
But I feel all our Devs work hard and do a great job. The game is heading the right way now.

I'd have to say
The old Community Relations Rep
Greywolfe
Mostly because I don't know how many hours I spent in IRC chats with him back around 2001-2002. He/She used to tell funny stories about how their Jack Russel Terrier loved to eat Raisins and that they would bring the dog into the office on Fridays......

Anyone that was on the dev team more than 4 years ago really. They're all pretty terrible now except for a few good moments that are eventually overshadowed by completely stupid changes.

Hanse - On the old MYUO boards I posted a request to have a banker in Wind and he had one put in.

Wilkie.
He took the time once to personally help me with a serious account issue.
As community guy, he didnt mind talking, in fact he was on here all the time.
He didn't mind laying it out the way it was, facts, figures, and giving the flames as well as taking them ;)
Good sense of humor, but no nonsense and no bull****tin' around.
We still miss ya, John Wilkerson.
And a shout out to Mr Tact as well :)

OSI Tyrant
didn't truly like him at all (well not him, actually, but the actions his position forced on him)... but his ultimatum to the Kes residents made me try Ultima, and for that I thank him

Leurocian.:):):)
The man that brought us Travesty, Paragons, and other very fun and interesting monsters to fight!!
Leurocian Kicks AZZ!!!!!:gun:
Bryan "Tajima" Walker. He frequently talked to players on the boards, worked client issues one on one, and was often directly involved in the game to assist individual needs. Never saw anything like the guy before or since. As the senior producer, he exercised great foresight and "vision." He balanced individual dev strengths, weaknesses, and tasked accordingly. I never heard anyone on the team speak anything but the highest praise for him. EA lost a superstar when he went to Nintendo, but both his major projects there have been hits to the extreme. He graduated "above" our product specifically, but if EA wants the best they can find to weight/ balance/ progress Mythic Studios, this is the man for the job if he'd accept the demotion!

Urgh. I don't remember, anymore, the Dev's name, but back on the old UO Forums, they had a tech help forum, and there was a Dev (I want to say Sanio, but just not sure!) that spent his FREE TIME there helping out people who had issues. We had a 3 week e-mail exchange figuring out how to streamline my system to run 3D flawlessly. Some of the stuff he walked me thru had nothing particular to do with UO, it was more computer maintenance and OS streamlining, networking, that sort of thing. He was very dedicated to helping people run UO on their systems to the best of the game and system capabilities.
I also really like Draconi and wish he had more people working with him on the Live Team to make his ideas and events come more quickly and smoothly. How can you question the dedication of a man who built a whole shard and events on his own time, while sitting in airports, while moving across country during holidays, just to still be a Dev for us? You may not always agree with his ideas, but you cannot question his dedication.
I like how Mesana is dedicated to tracking down bugs.
I like Sakkara's open communication. Again, you may not agree with her ideas, but you have to admit she is out there.
Leuro ... I wish he weren't locked away from us in the SA dungeon ... I can only hope that SA will have much awesomeness thanks to his work on it, and that when we come out the other side, he will be back to working on our regular game systems.

...
Let's see... I have a few, though I'm not sure if I can point to one as a favorite, a few are historical, a few are current, so in no particular order:
Pandemonium: a dev from days gone by (actually around the T2A era) that opened up a LOT of client possibilities when other devs were claiming they couldn't be done (added new items, added in dark nights, colored lighting, and the "big window" which is now the current style of client used. He also for a time put a couple of personal favorite ideas on Test Center which while different in final execution, ended up in the game long after he left.
Firedog: A boon to Alchemists who created the potion kegs we have used for years, also worked with us on Test Center with his own Tower.
Leurocian: For the reasons already mentioned here.
And one who is in the "make or break" seat right now: Supreem... while I can't add him to the list YET, it will be the outcome of the revamping of KR into SA that will determine if he makes it in the list for me or not.
So Supreem... You're on the Hot Seat... no pressure or anything :p

Richard Garriot (although I don't know him) -because he created the best game on earth
And : Binky because the game was full of life when he was there and he understood UO players and their desires.
And, of course : Wilki because I liked his way of communicating.

I don't play favorites :)
I feel it would be unfair to pick since obviously I'm biased towards ones who've come out and been active on the forums, as I don't see the ones working invisibly behind the scenes and don't know who was responsible for what.
So, if there are any devs past or present quietly reading, then consider your name to go here:
Thank you _______________ !! You're the best! :) :)

I concur with Lord Maplestone. There are several I miss. The ones I like best are those working now and keeping my lonely shard in mind. Who knows? One day it might be what keeps you playing...

new school? Grimm Omen because he's a hippie and gave us all that wonderful art.

CatHat was great, among many others. He was funny as hell, active on the boards, and did great work in-game. I hope he's doing well http://www.thelostlands.com/images/smilies/catman.gif
No wait, I take my last post back.
Greywolfe.
I was unfairly perma-banned about seven years ago (Oh boy do I need to get out more...) and he helped me get it re-reviewed and overturned a few months later.
If only my account age could get bumped to where it should be again... sigh. I guess I can live with my account aging six months too late..

Way back when:
IGM Twilight. He bent over backward to help out the RP communities.
Seer Kelly. Not an official staff member, but was key to my enjoyment of early UO.
More Recent:
Sunsword. He listened to the Conservatory of Bardic Arts(ca. 2000), took notes, and his notes eventually changed into positive game changes. I'm not sure how he played into making the changes, but it was his feedback that we saw.
Now:
Jeremy. In the face of constant criticism from the public and being obviously held back by the higher-ups (how often do we hear, "I can't talk about it now?"), she does an outstanding job.
Right now, I like the whole team.

Sounds like Tajima. He started out as a tech guy for UO and eventually ended up as producer. He was well-known for taking his own time to help fix technical problems, even after becoming producer. I remember someone saying he phoned them at home to help them with some issue.

I'd say Jeremy. Anyone that actually listens and tries to get things done for the community is ok in my book.
After all, it's not their fault that EA/Mythic handcuffs them with what they can and cannot do.
Old Man of UO

Firedog - most probably don't remember him, but he helped with a lot of the alchemy systems. When the deadly poison was first introduced, he invited a few of us to Test Center to try out the new poison - and I got to use it first! But then, it was un-curable and death followed after 5-6 ticks, and quickly got nerfed. He even came to a couple alchemy parties in person and booted a griefer or two for us.
There have been quite a few good ones, and I think we have a good team now, just not the personal touch that Firedog showed us.

I just remember that Callendryl always pounded into our heads that that wasnt his job, he was helping us on his own time, so be NICE lol I still go thru and do some of the things he told me on every new computer I get.
As others have said, I also really like Jeremy. She does a good job, tho I wish she would "chat" a bit more often :)

my fav was... I think her name was stardust ( i think not real sure after all these years :( I know it was close to that or sparkles)
anyway I had a chest i needed moved, cuz the stupid thing would unlock but i couldnt pick it up for some reason, she explained it was the type that u used to have to axe to get items out of. But after she helped me put it where I really wanted it, she seen i had a *hot tub* set up in my bathroom :) so she sat with me in it for a bit til she had another call & had to go. It was fun just sittin there chattin with her for a bit :)
