Hey Y'all,

Heres my template :

110 Archery (currently 107)
110 Swords (done)
100 Anatomy (done)
100 Tactics (done)
100 Healing (currently 98)
100 Magic Resist (currently 87)
50 Hding
40 Magery

Stats : 95 Str 105 Dex 25 Int

smithy/archer

100 archery
100 tactics
92 magery (going for gm, but it's sloooooow)
20 med

60 arms lore
100 itemid
100 smithing
100 mining

and the rest currently in eval.

95 str
80 dex
50 int

i'll drop arms lore completely on her i guess in aos, or maybe mining too, and take up battle focus, some healing, anatomy, or get some power scrolls for archery and tactics. hmm...maybe take up bowcrafting even.

even though she has no anatomy, with a dragon slaying bow i counted that it only took 29 arrows to kill one!

archer/mage, currently in training. what she'll have in erh..a couple of months.

100 tactics
100 archery
100 anatomy

100 magery
100 eval
100+ med

100 maybe healing, maybe bow crafting.

86 str
39 dex
100 int

or

80 str
80 dex
65 int

hmm..i guess i'll have to look into buying a stat scroll. now where did i leave my 10 million...

This is a "pure warrior" I think, well here is my main's template

110 archery (101.4)
110 swords (101)
100 parry done
100 tactics done
100 anat done
100 healing done
100 resist (80)

Good ol' parry/swords/archer only problem is my lack of magery... oh well =) and I have to wait 3 more months until I get the +20 skill points instead of only +15

and if you've noticed, my spare points are into about 30 magery so I can recall for now

Here's the template I'm trying to get, just started this chard a little while ago, but I'll get there eventually:

100 Archery
100 Fencing
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Resist
20.1 Tracking
73.9 Hiding
25 Magery
81 Healing

107 Str
107 Dex
11 Int

This char wil be able to hold his own in PvM of PvP, track as well as GM Tracker, hide with little failure, res, and recall.

You asked for it. In no particular order and none are finished (and I haven't included str/dex/int because I'm too lazy to look them all up - assume maxed out dex and str on all but the ones with high magery - those stats aren't finalized anyway):

Sonata of Atlantic, Techno Archer/Treasure Hunter
Carto 100

Mine is an Archer/Mage...the most satisfying template I can find:

120 Archer (only at 104)
100 Med (done)
100 Tactics (done)
100 Magery (close)
100 Eval int (close)
100 Anatomy (done)
80 Resist (done)

Stats are:
80 Strength
80 Dexterity
65 Intellegence
80/80 so I can carry a slayer bow

I've tried many others, but keep coming back to this one.

I am going for a regular PvM arhcer here:

105 Macing (90)
120 Archery (70)
100 Tacs (89)
110 Healing (75)
100 Anat (86)
100 Resist (65)
50 Magery
Just plain on doing some hunting with the template.

My main:

http://is2.dal.ca/~cwjamies/finished.jpg

This was taken awhile ago (before vet points). I bought a +10 archery scroll awhile ago, but I've been lazy and I'm only at 103.7 archery since I only get the GGS gains.

My other archer's template on atl looks like:
gm archery
gm tactics
gm magery
gm meditation
gm music
110 provoke
gm resist (at 77.3 now)

Stats - 80/95/50 (S/I/D)

This guy was never meant to be an archer, it just turned out that way. Great for hunting in groups though!

<blockquote><hr>

80/80 so I can carry a slayer bow

<hr></blockquote>

hmm, i wonder about that. should i either get 100 int so i can do 2x earthquakes, or 80/80 and 65 int to use slayer bows? i wonder which is more powerful /php-bin/shared/images/icons/frown.gif

i'm thinking of now getting 3 archers. the smithy/archer, mage/archery, and 125 dex scrolled archer. but then i might not play them, and you've got to get so many arrows all the time /php-bin/shared/images/icons/frown.gif

This is my pure archer on L.S.

Archery 120 (Done)
Tactics 110 (Done)
Anatomy 110 (106.8)
Hiding 100 (Done)
Healing 100 (94.2)
Resist 100 (81.1)
Magery 50 (43.1)

Str 100 Dex 110 Intel 20

I have used a plus 5 stat scroll and have a skill cap of 710. This temp leaves me with an extra 20 skill points. Don`t know if I should split em between healing and resist or put em all in resist.

((Not added powerscrolls yet))

All I suffer is the lack of wrestling

SkinDogg

Eval + anat &gt; wrestle

In other words, OSI changed the rules ago and you don't need wrestle anymore if you have eval and anat. You'd be crazy to have it in your template./php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif

My PvM/group hunter goal, after using a +5 stat and 110 archery powerscrolls on a 4-year vet account (it's good to be old):

Str 80
Dex 110
Int 40

110 archery (currently GM)
100 fencing (97.3)

100 tactics (done)
94 hiding (78.4)
70 resist (68.9)
81 healing (78.9)

My stats are done and the skills are getting so close I can taste it...

Hmm, looks like Thargor Pithlit is the first archer/tamer to be listed here:

LE Archery (102, no LE scroll yet)
GM Tactics (achieved)
GM Anatomy (achieved)
GM Taming (78)
GM Animal Lore (85)
90 Healing (88)
90 Veterinary (84)
20 Magery (achieved lol)

107/11/107 (working on it)

Haven't played this char quite some time, though...

EDIT

With AoS being published now, I will change the stats of the above mentioned template to 90/45/90.

My AoS archer template will look like
EL Archery
EL Fencing
EL Parry
GM Tactics
GM Anatomy
GM Chivalry
90 Battle Focus

90/45/90

I will shift my archer on Siege Perilous to this template.

115 Archery (currently 100.5)
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy (almost there, not bored enough to polish last few points off yet)
100 Healing (int he 70s now)
100 Resist (hahaha... someday)
65 Magery (don't need any more really)
100 Something Else

Currently, my "Something Else" is invested in Hiding and I still have 20 points left over for use in power scrolls (maybe 5 more to archery and the rest in tactics, not sure yet). I'm strongly considering changing my Hiding to Chivalry when AOS goes live. I'll have to see how useful it is first before I decide though.

This is my wandering-healer-archer. PvM mostly, PvP he goes down fast but makes a good aid station. Edited for a change I'm making to this one... 30 resist wasn't much different from 0 for a PvM character and 90 healing and vet help more than the resist did. I may change my mind again and drop 10 lore to GM healing as well.

Bowcraft 100
Archery 100
Tactics 100
Anatomy 100

anatomy: 100
archery 120
healing: 90
magery 80
resist 80
meditate 50
tactics 100
fishing 100

S/I/D: 90/55/80

I don't have a +20 scroll yet, but thinking about it,...
only thing sure is that fishing should stay at 100, that was my initial profession for this char.
Is this a good template?

Seres, that looks good for dealing with the creatures you drag up from the deep.

I thought of another template, it looks kind of fun, but not really strong
Its a Ranger
Archery 100
Tactics 100
Hiding 100
Bowcraft 60 Good for making regular bows, it could be even lower
Taming 80 or so I forgot whats needed for frenzieds
Animal Lore 80 or so
Magery 60 for healing or try chivalry
LJ 60 Get wood most of the time
Anat 65 ?
Str 85
Dex 90
Int 50

Here's the template I'm trying to get, just started this chard a little while ago, but I'll get there eventually:

100 Archery
100 Fencing
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Resist
20.1 Tracking
73.9 Hiding
25 Magery
81 Healing

107 Str
107 Dex
11 Int

This char wil be able to hold his own in PvM of PvP, track as well as GM Tracker, hide with little failure, res, and recall.

----

Sorry to burst your bubble; mind blast will own you, you dont have enough int to heal with magery, and you will be dead before your first bandage is finished; hiding with little failure at that level is a toss-up; maybe if you are fighting near houses. If not, you can expect to fail noticeably. You'll also be fizzling a lot with recalls. Wait, can you even recall with 11 mana?

80 Strength (80)
100 Dexterity (100)
45 Intelligence (45... im gonna drop this to 40 and put +5 to strength)

so far it's working out. this character is strictly NO PvP... i made him only as support for the rest of my guild, because our main guild event is the champ spawn.

Just for kicks, here's my PvP'er... soon to be red, unfortunately (and no powerscrolls for this one, either. number in parenthesis is current value).

Some assistance would be appreciated with this.

Archery
Tactics
Anatomy
Healing
Resisting Spells
Swordsmanship
Chivalry/Hiding
Focus?

I could turn him into a Paladin with Chivalry, and then replace healing with focus.
But what would Anatomy be for? (..Very ignorant concerning some skills.)
Or, I could just switch to hiding, but then I'd have no points left for stealth.

02-19-2003, 12:28 AM
Just decided last week to have archery again, after reading about the new weapons &amp; special moves.

Koloth (archer mage):

110 archery (currently 57 /php-bin/shared/images/icons/biggrin.gif)
110 magery (currently 92, scroll not in possession yet)
110 med (currently gm, scroll not in possession yet)
110 eval int (currently gm, scroll not in possession yet)
110 tactics (currently gm, scroll not in possession yet)
110 anatomy (currently gm, scroll not in possession yet)

Currently 50 points left, dunno what to do with them... maybe chivalry?

Edit: current (real, not disp) stats: str 86 - dex 49 - int 90

For your archeress in progress, I'm a little confused that you're including 100 anatomy among her assets: I keep hearing that anatomy has been nerfed to irrelevance, and I was just thinking about chucking my archer/mage's anatomy to make room for (maybe) battle focus. Can you share a little of your thinking here? I'd be grateful to hear it.
Thanks, in advance, for your help.

ChadeFallstar
02-19-2003, 09:49 PM
Well, on an archer mage (i'm assumeing you have evaluate intelligance) the anatomy will act as a defensive wrestle while you are unarmed (ie casting a spell)..as in you can't hit people, but they have trouble hitting you...the formula is (eval int + anatomy + 20) / 2 if I remember right...

Not to mention you will still get a damage bonus from anatomy
And if you have healing aswell...

Indazone

120 Archery
120 Tactics
120 Anatomy
100 Chivalry
100 Focus
100 Meditation
040 Bowcraft/Fletching

80 str / 105 dex / 40 int (once I get a stat scroll, will do 80 str / 120 dex / 50 int)

Using this template and wearing barbed leather armor, I only have to stock bows and arrows. I don't need bandages and I don't need regs. My mana comes back fast enough to allow me to rely only on chivalry to heal. Chivalry has a recall spell, so that is the reason I can get by without magery.

Used for PvM, I know a bard/archer template would be more "efficient", but I wanted to make the most powerful pure archer possible and I think this is the template for that.

After a TON of reading and thinking about this, here is what I am doing for my archer. Though all the facts are not in on AoS.

Str 100 (100 after scroll - some lifetime)
Dex 90 (110 after scroll - next life after that)
Int 35 (40 you get the picture)

Archery 120
Swords 120 (fence but it is clear the good items will be mostly swords)
Tactics 120 (damage mods are best here)
Parry 120 (with a +defense shield this is awesome, have +6 chaos now - incredible)
Chivalry 100 (with three weapon skills mana use is VERY low)
Focus 120 (use is low but Int is too)

Incredible defense + Chivalry + Focus = very adequate healing. I do have to retreat now and then with currently low Int. But the strong offense just as often makes my opponent run.

Resist would be nice but with the right armor you can have a 60ish wear requirement and so long as you can keep your shield in hand and your pants on, this works. At least so far. If I was to change anything it would be to build resist to 100 and drop all but Tactics to GM. Like this:

Archery 100
Swords 100 (would prefer dex but it is clear the good items will be most in swords)
Tactics 120 (damage mods are best here)
Parry 100 (with a +defense shield this is awesome, have a+6 chaos now - incredible)
Chivalry 100 (with three weapon skills mana use is VERY low)
Focus 100 (use is low but Int is too)
Resist 100

Frankly if that wasn't enough resist, I'd drop Swords to 100 and bring resist 120.

I haven't had the pleasure of actually playing this a great deal and when I have it has been on test. My current Character is still getting the Chiv under him (but he has GMs in the rest). much of my motivation from putting this together is from a careful read of the posts here on Stratics across profession boards. From what everyone has said post of testing, this is the guy. AND HE ROCKS.

There is most strong concensus that resist needs to be either 120 or 0. In between does nothing. Also that without heal, Anat is worthless, serving only around +4 HP addition to Dam. The 20 points in Tactics does better than the 100 in Anat.

So does anyone catch any flaws? obviously play style will make a difference for everyone. i.e. hide, heal, etc. But if its the HULK you want, this is him. Think of your arrows as fired by the Muscular Orchish/Elvish guy in Lord of the Rings. There ain't nothing hurts like being shot with telephone poles. (what is that breed called again?)

Anyway, hope this helps someone out there. Thanks for all the great advise you have shot my way.

You are not useing healing at all??

My template:
Gm sword's
Gm Ant
Gm Tactics
Gm Archery
Gm Healing
86 focus
65 pally
111/90/25 (i may go to more mana then str,Id really like to get a stat scroll)

I am also debating on using a powerscroll,I if I do I think ill go with Tactics, that way it helps both archery and swords, may get a 105 healing dunno yet

hi,
i decided to rebuild my formerly archer/swordsman to a pure archer paladin post aos:

120 Archery
110 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Healing
100 Resist
100 Chivalry
80 Focus
10 Magery

my decision to drop swords wasnt easy, but "best weapon skill" swords could be an option...10 magery are for teleporting from scrolls.

all the info on these boards are great, now maybe someone out there can help me out... i have a grandmaster archer who can hold his own against monsters but is having trouble with the PvP in the Fel Yew Moongate area. this is my template i am using... I am thinking about dropping fencing and move those points towards magery skills since i only use spell channeling bows.. i also will be using power scrolls in the near future.

100 FENCING&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; DO I DROP COMLETELY???
105 ARCHERY&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; might raise to 120 with scroll, 110 for sure
100 TACTICS&gt;&gt;&gt;&gt; up to 120
100 ANATOMY&gt;&gt;&gt; &gt; keeping as is.
80 HEALING
55 HIDING
70 RESIST
60 FOCUS
50 MAGERY

if anyone has some suggestions, message me or just reply to this post. ICQ is 58204688

I like Moby-Sick's template, but as a pure Archer Paladin wouldn't Meditation be better than Focus? We can wear Barbed leather since we are going to avoid being hit, and use passive med for double the mana regeneration. I've heard stanima can be an issue, but devine fury will replinish stanima if needed.

120 Archery
110 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Chivalry
100 Meditation
100 Healing

I'm intending to use this char for champ spawns.

100 archery
100 tactics
100 magery
100 med
100 eval
100 music
100 provoke

Seems like it has a lot of offensive power anyway.

My archer pre-AoS:

110 Archery
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Healing
100 Resist
100 Magery
100 Eval Int

My archer post-AoS:

110 Archery
100 Tactics
100 Anatomy
100 Resist
100 Chivalry
100 Focus
100 Meditation

[edit] BTW, my post-AoS archer is exponentially more powerful (for a variety of reasons).

I have been working on my RP Archer/Bowcrafter template since AoS and so far I'm haveing fun with this template for PvM.

Sylen's Template...

Archery : 100
Tactics : 100
Anatomy : 100

Chivalry : 100
Focus : 100

Bowcrafting : 100
Lumberjacking : 100

Str : 100

I've been trying to figure out an exciting archer combo, and I think I've come up with it finally... this archer has been through about 5 different templates during his time, but I'm convinced this one will work... ::Grins:: just like I was on the last 5... but anyway, here it is..

Skillcap 715

120 Archery
110 Peace
110 Provo
GM Tactics
GM Music
90 Focus
85 Chivalry

The anatomy loss hopefully can be overshadowed by the Chivalry spells, and healing is also covered by this... between the peacing and the provo, it should work out so that he doesn't get hit much... and with a nice luck/high resist set of armor, he should be in good standing... one can hope...

For AoS I prefer the following archer template:

archery 100
chivalry 100
tactics 100
focus 100
anatomy 100
music 100
peace 100

Earlier I preferred sword as near distance fight skill and
magery for teleport and heal. Now I prefer peace to
support my archer and use chivalry for teleport and heal
and focus instead of meditation.

I havent played in a year and a half or so and this was never really meant as a pvp character for obvious reasons.

Archery - 100.3/105
E.I. - 93/100
Magery - 100/100
Med. - 100/100
Resist - 60.5/100
Tactics - 100/100
Bowcraft/Fletching - 100/100

He is a fun character to play but with 100 skill points used up in the art of making bows it makes him pretty weak for pvp unfortunatly, and dropping Bowcraft is not an option! /php-bin/shared/images/icons/tongue.gif

Changed my template, and so far, I'm having tons of fun.

Archery - 101/120
Med - 100/100 (will drop either this or focus once im done testing)
Focus - 100/100
Resist - 62/100(will put down to 60 and use jewelry for 90 total)
Tactics - 100/100 (will get 120 Scroll)
Anatomy - 100/100 (will get 120 Scroll)
Chiv - 80/100 (locked)
Bowcraft/Fletching - 100/100

Chiv rocks on an archer. So much fun!

I have a ranger and he is the only char I've played (for the most part) in the last year or so.

elder archer (done)
elder taming (107 currently)
elder vet (98 currently)
elder lore (98 currently)
gm anatomy (done)
gm tacics (done)

PvP archer mage:

120 Archery
110 Tactics
110 Anat
110 Magery
110 Eval
110 Med
Whatever's left in Focus (I'm too lazy to figure it out)
80 str, 50 dex, 100 int

I already have all the scrolls, if only I could get the damn gains! Thanks, OSI, for making it impossible to GM skills anymore without working on your char 8 hours a day for 6 months. Christ....

I use the best armor and equipment I can get as I find it (if I ever fill that lbod, I'll have a barbed runic on my hands too /php-bin/shared/images/icons/laugh.gif ), but the two things I basically always use are:
A ring with +13 archery (so I only actually have to train arch to 107, and the ring will bring it to 120), Fast Cast 1, 4% defense increase, 5% lower mana cost, and +6 str; and a composite bow with spell channelling, 20% swing speed increase, and 17% damage increase. Armor ignore on that is just evil.

I'm currently only at 77 archery, 73 tactics, and 81 anat (thx again, OSI, for the sweet gains) and armor ignore with that bow was doing like 33 damage, even to my friend with almost all 70's for resist. Also, I tested a combo on him, while he was wearing the 70's resist suit, and exp/armor ignore/MB had him so redlined it wasn't even funny. After the MB I fired another arrow instantly, but it missed because of my crappy skill. If that arrow had hit, it would have been a kill, against ub3r AoS armor, for ~65 mana, all in about 6 or 7 seconds. I can't wait to get this char done! All I can say is....pwnage!

110 Archery
110 Tactics
110 Anatomy
110 Music
110 Peace

Peacing on an archer seems to so kick, because the creatures you peace don't re aggro when you attack with the bow /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif

This is a PvP Template???
I'm playing in Argentina y a very small shard, but this shard is too PvP.

My template is
Archery 120 (currently 103)
Anatomy 115 (currently 102)
Tactics 100 (GM)
Healing 100 (GM)
Chivalry 90 (90)
Focus 110 (achieved)
Magery 65 (actually 95)

Using an exceptional crossbow +40% to damage, casting consecrate weapon and selecting concussion blow (only this because we haven't the Enemy of One activated yet) I do a damage of 70 hp approximately to a player with 50 of ar.

I'll keep magery to mark and to cast night sight, because I don't like potions :P.

The most important thing is that you can attack with your bow and with chival at the same time (holy light), and can heal yourself with bandages &amp; close wounds.

The stats:
Str 80
Dex 100
Int 45

Try this template, is real powa

Mine? Any more expansions or changes to UO it will prolly be changing again

110 Base archery (scrolled to 115 jewelry does the rest)
110 Base tact, It could be 350 tact still would prolly miss all the time
100 Bowyer You ever actually found people to repair your bows?
100 Base anat (scrolled +5)
100 Focus (scrolled +5/ Meditation sux)
80 Eval Int (enough to make spells effective, jewelry does more)
70ish Magery (Jewelery gets me to circle 8 spells)
Lumberjacking dropping fast. . now the big question keep improving Combat side or the spellcasting side?

80str
103dex (speed is life)
40ish Int

Here is what I have followed by what I am thinking...any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Archery 100
Anatomy 100
Tactics 100
Healing 100
Animal Taming 88.5
Animal Lore 100.1
Veterinary 94.5
Magery 34.8
Focus 4.8

110
95
40

I have used a +20 Stat Scroll, but still have my AOS gift to use. As you can see, I am getting low on Focus (good riddance) so I need to decide what I want my final template to be.

I am thinking of dropping Lore to 90 in order to keep Magery a little higher. I would like to be able to recall at 100% chance with Rune Book. Other than that I don't really use Magery. I would like to be able to Gate or Invis, but would be okay with losing that ability...so, should I drop Magery to 20 or NUT?

I am thinking of this template:
Archery 100
Anatomy 100
Tactics 100
Healing 100
Animal Taming 100
Animal Lore 100 or change to 90 to keep Magery at 35
Veterinary 100 or change to 95 to keep Magery at 35
Magery 20

How often will I fail to recall with runebook at 20?

I am thinking of lowering my Str to up my Int so that I can use special moves more. As a tamer, I am wondering if the special moves are such a great thing for my archer anyway. How low should I feel safe going with Str.

How high should I keep the Dex? How much faster do I shoot at different levels? Apparently with the latest update I can't vet my pet any faster above 40 Dex.

Lastly, how should I use my AOS gift? I am leaning toward bumping taming to 100 as soon as I hit 95, but am wondering if I should use it to bump my stats instead. Dang, I wish I would have got a +25 stat scroll instead of +20! Hmmm, what to do, what to do?

Any ideas? I think I am rambling...I better go to bed. lol

I have 2 archers, both in the works, both this is what I am shooting for, although I'm not sure how well the stealth archer is going to work out:

Stealth/Archer/Mage (needs fine tuning, but great at surprise attacks/avoiding attacks and can go anywhere. He usually has a summoned fire ele or daemon with him and uses spell channeling bows. ):
100 archery
100 hiding
75 stealth (using jewelry for 95)
100 magery
75 med
100 eval
50 tactics
50 anat
50 resist
85 str
80 int
60 dex

My other archer is a basic Paladin/Archer (excellent, and fun, warrior):
110 archery
100 tactics
100 anat
100 healing
100 chivalry
100 focus
90 resist
90 str
70 dex
65 int

As I said, they are both in the process of gaining skill, so these are not the definite final numbers.

I've only seen one other of these:

105 Archery
80+ chiv (Might stop at 80, might go on...)
110 Taming
100 Focus
100 Vet
100 Lore
100 Tacs

100/80/55 (It works out to more like 100/85/65 with items)

I can stand on my WW with a slayer bow and dish out another 50-100 damage every couple of seconds. I'm doing elder gazers currently with one mare and am dropping them as fast as I used to with a white wyrm. I do miss magery from time to time, but once your pets bond you hardly notice it.

This is what I am currently working on:

120 Archery
100 Musicianship
100 Peacemaking
100 Anatomy
100 Tactics
100 Bowcraft/Fletching
80 Chivalry

80 Strength
100 Dexterity
45 Intelligence

A lot of people may wonder why I chose a craft over another skill, I thought it would be nice to be able to make and repaire my own bows.

This one seems to be unique among the others posted here:

100 archery
90 swords
100 tactics
100 magery
50 chivalry
100 focus
80 poisoning
80 resist spells

This gives the best aspects of many fighting techniques. A lot of possibilities both near and far. I'm still working on archery and magery, but when it's all done it will be as close to perfect as I can possibly ask for in a PvM fighter.

I play an Archer Assassin on LA

Anatomy (GM)
Archery (GM)
Fencing (70)
Focus (30)
Healing (GM)
Poisoning (GM)
Spirit Speak (GM)
Tactics (GM)

Stats: (used +10 stat scroll)

str 95
dex 100
int 40

This is my actual current template so all of my skills are as noted above and so far it seems to be very effective both in PVM and PVP. I know archery isn't the greatest in pvp but when you can get off a para shot and then lethal poison, there's a good chance you might take down a low hp mage or a warrior who doesn't have any cures on hand. Someday I hope we can poison arrows, when that day comes I'm dropping fencing and going straight archer.

This worked out nicely for me... I am not a PvPer.

115 Archery
115 Fencing
115 Tactics
115 Anatomy
106 Healing (still raising.. to 110 when I hit 4th year)
80 Chivalry (locked)
29 Focus (locked with +11 focus bonus ring)
35 Magery (locked)

Stats: 100 STR 90 DEX 60 INT (consumed a +20 stat ps)

Need the magery to cast Teleport, Reactive Armor, Magic Reflection, and Gate Travel (using scroll and jewelry with magery bonuses)
Had GM Parrying but dropped it because the monsters that can kill me isn't gonna just bite my head off. This also allow me to use potions when I am fencing.
Had GM Magic Resistance but dropped because after the skill got nerf, being a PvMer, being para only buy me more time to bandage heal.

One might ask, "What's the point of having both Necromancy and Chivalry on the same character?" Yes, I understand that with Necromancy, the lower your karma the better, and with Chivalry, the higher is best. This template is really based around your Chivalry though. The point of having Necromancy is souly for Vampiric Embrace. I know what you're thinking - That form lowers your fire resistance by 25%! So what? Whats some fire resistance to all the added bonuses? When in Vampyre form, you gain a 20% Life Drain ability, your Stamina &amp; Mana Regeneration is increased, and you're immune to Poison up to 4th level! One doesn't have to worry about the 25% extra damage from Silver Weapons when fighting monsters, because none actually use a Silver weapon. Also, since you have [100.0](GM) Magical Resistance, the lowest your Fire Resist can be is 15 - 20 while you have this one (which is better then nothing). Ontop of this, I don't think anyone is stupid enough (other then myself) to go out without wearing some type of armor, espcially since they're going to be fighting pretty strong monsters. Even the most basic of armor should make up for the Fire Resist lost using the Vampyre form. The Chivalry is used for everything else. Use Close Wounds to heal yourself ( 7 - 39 points, depending on your Karma ), Remove Curse to regain your skills when needed ( chance dependant on Karma ), Consecrate Weapon to deal extra damage ( 3 - 11 duration, depending on Karma ), and Enemy of One to deal 50% more damage to the enemy ( 1.5 - 3.5 minute duration, based on Karma ). With the Chivalry spell of Sacred Journy, you can easily get from one location to another, and Noble Sacrifice lets you resurrect your fallen friends. The Cleanse by Fire spell will allow you to cure your friends, but since you have Vampiric Embrace on, you won't be needing it. Since you're only using Necromancy for Vampiric Embrace, and you're fighting Dragons, your Karma will stay high enough to give you the best added bonuses with all of the Chivaly spells.

I know, I know - "Why not just drop the Necromancy and put in a different, more useful skill?" - Because with Necromancy, you have the option to use all the Death-Dealing spells that come with it. With the ability to cast Pain Spike (even though not effectively without Spirit Speak) you can deal off that last bit of damage to the enemy quickly, and then gain the Karma you lost back right after. If you had healing instead, you give the opponent (be it Dragon or Titan, Terethian or Gazer) an opportunity to deal a massive amount of damage in its last bit of health. I've watched people get their arse kicked by a Dragon with little more then 30 hp, while the fighter had full health. But seriously, who doesn't want the extra added bonus that Vampiric Embrace gives you?

Some people might argue that having Magery with Archery is best, but I beg to differ. With Magery, you have to buy a crap-load of Reagents ontop of your Arrows, and if you're simply using Magery as a means to heal and travel, you might as well give it up for Healing, or better yet, Chivalry. With Chivalry, you don't have to worry about 'regging up'. With the Tithing Points, they're constantly in your Chivalry Book, so you don't need to run to the Bank to get more Reagents!

I recommend taking Battle Focus instead of Meditation. With Meditation, according to Stratics, you've got to be wearing armor that allows you to use this skill to gain the maximum Mana Regeneration bonus. With Focus, though, you get a Mana Regeneration bonus (though not as good as Meditation) along with a Stamina Regeneration bonus. I'm sure if you're wearing the right type of armor, and can drag a Dragon off to fight it alone, Meditation would be the ideal skill to choose - but I have trouble getting them off alone, and its hard to find a nice suit of medable armor without being a Multi-Billioniare. Therefore, I suggest going with Battle Focus.

Like I said earlier, this template was designed to do battle with Dragons, and most of the time alone. If you can get a nice Dragon Slayer - do it. It'll help more then you think. With this template, using a Dragon Slayer Bow and the tactics said above ( Vampiric Embrace, Enemy of One, and Consecrate Weapon ) I can take a White Wyrm down in 3 - 4 shots. I suggest you not use Divine Fury - it may give you some pretty groovie (yes, groovie) pluses, but the flaw of taking more damage, in my opinion, isn't worth it.

Don't know what to do with your Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence? The only help I can offer to you there with this template is to balance them as best you can. I use 95 str, 85 dex, and 75 int. With these Stats, you have a nice amount of Mana to use on your Spells, a fairly nice amount of Health, and good enough Stamina to run around and attack quite fast. Though its not as good as someone who has 125 dex, or 125 strength, it works (espcially since it was designed to fight alone). Just do what you think will work best.

I'd love to see what people can do with the Necromancy skill in an Archer template. Come on people! Get creative! Use your imagination, and have some fun with the game - its not all about the money! I hope someone uses this template, or at least tries it out - I had a time typing all this up. =P Peace guys.

Here is the template i'm going for with my archer/mage/pally template

Skill Cap Currently is 710

110 Archery - currently 75
110 Magery - Currently 100
110 Eval - Currently 100
GM Med - Done
GM Focus - Currently 92
GM Anatomy - Currently 75
80 Chiv - Currently 50

Stats - Currently
STR - 80
DEX - 25
INT - 125

So far she's pretty wicked. When you equip a spell channeling archery weapon, she can kill with arrows and high level spells. Also being able to summon up some earthies doesn't hurt either.

Well in the last couple months I have totally reformatted my archer on siege.
I went from
gm archer/anat/tacs/swords/L J/50 mage/60 resist/80 anat.... i thought it was cool to be an archer who could cut his own trees and get the lj bonus with swords... but that went down in the last year and i was getting killed too much... still do, but at least now i have a good chance at least, and do killer in pvm soloing.
to
archery 110.2 (to 120)
anatomy 110
tactics 104.8 (to 110)
Focus 97.4 (to 110)
Healing 95.9 (to 110)
Chivalry 77.6 (to 110)
Resit 69 (to 100)
LumberJack 55 (to 0)

once i get run out of lumberjacking i think i will either point chiv down to 80 or 90 and maybe focus to 100 or healing.. not sure.. but i will try to keep my resist going up to 100 no matter what. i have a 4yr account so ill work out the final touches when i get my base skills to 720.
i love that they tweaked healing so it doesnt take 20 seconds to heal any more. i can heal at 6 seconds (with good dex), and then also do the chiv heal and this works out great against monsters, if i practiced it may do good against pvp.

my stats are
90 str. (97 with rings and braclet)
95 dex (99 w/ ring)
60 intell
thats with my +5 reward scroll, and a +15 scroll... on siege you cant bless so you only carry stuff you can stand losing, but with damage bonus items you can do some good work!
the only thing i miss is having enough magic to gate... since sacred journey and recalls dont work on siege = lots of running getting killed by groups of reds! lol, but siege rocks compared to regular shards, way more exciting, thrilling, exhilerating at times even. and you get a little used to being killed. hehe

Chivalry 80.0 // 95
Focus 32.4 // 0
100 Str 50 Int 80 Dex</pre>If I ever get a 120 Archery or Anatomy scroll, I'll drop Chiv back.

If Archery gets a bit of a boost, I'd consider trading Tactics for EvalInt. But thats a ways off.... maybe /php-bin/shared/images/icons/wink.gif

Here it is. My char started out as a Tamer/Bard but then evolved to a Tamer/Mage. But out of all my charachters I was lacking the skill of Archery which I remebered on an old account having alot of fun with archery pre-Tram so since this charachter Is still in development I decided to give a Tamer/Archer a try. This is what I have come up with so far:

Taming 120 (Taming is main skill) / Currently at 101.1
Animal Lore 100 / Currently at 87
Vetrinary 100 / Currently at 68
Archery 120 (If I can find a scroll) / Currently at 54
Tactics 100 / Currently in the 30's somewhere
Chivalry 80 / Currently 47
Focus or Resist 80 (Havent decided which I want yet) / Currently Resist 45, Focus 55, I will probably keep focus for stamina purposes

Strength 100
Dex 85
Intel 40
(I am probably going to find a nice stat scroll because I do not feel that my dex or intel are high enough but I am scared to drop my strength)

This charachter is still in development so any criticism or tips are very welcome.

Its a 7 time gm until you hit your 48 months and if you like you can take things to 110 be and elder something for take one skill just to 120 be legendary
Animal taming: 100
Animal Lore: 100
Archery: 100
Tactics: 100

I've not come up with any stats yet. So any ideas for stats with this template be greatly appriavted.
Since you'll need at least 95 str with the bows weight and if your cursed.
I'm going to take Taming to 120 and have archry scroll of 120 and wear my Hunter's Headdress to give me the extra 20points in it

My "archer" template....designed as a self-sufficient crafter that just happens to have Archery. One of these days I'm going to get him a golem and go to town on some poison elementals.

NOTE: This is not meant as a suggestion or as a waste of space. If anything, it's an unsolicited ad for services. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Rothchild [Woodworker, V] (Napa Valley)

Bowcraft 100.0
Carpentry 100.0
Lumberjacking 100.0
Tailoring 100.0 (and NOT going higher)
Swordsmanship 70.0
Archery 70.0
Healing 60.0
Anatomy 60.0
Tactics 40.0

STR 100
DEX 90
INT 35
(man I should've used the AoS gift for stats)

Currently I have a 715 skill cap in lieu of 720. Tailoring is in the mid 80's, Archery is 69.3 (gaining off of skeletons, no less!), Tactics is 50.0 and the rest is in Focus.

THIS WAS NOT MEANT TO PATRONIZE THE ARCHER PROFESSION.

But it is nice to have that exceptional yumi with his name in his hand, lacking some durability. GM LJ is handy to switch to a two-handed axe when the leather-bearing creature reaches melee range, and for making my own arrow shafts, and profiting from the unearthly levels to which archery ammunition and component prices have skyrocketed.

Quite self-sufficient. Can't gather his own barbed leather, but can't work with it right now either. Might could gather his own horned leather, but not gone sea serpent hunting just yet...lots of stuff has taken precedence since last I thought about it, most recently yon siege o' Britain.

I like the ability he has to not only make a troll trophy from a taxidermy kit, but also kill the troll himself. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/smile.gif However, he cannot kill the juka lord for the bow, nor can he make the gears to modify it. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/frown.gif

If you're on Napa, and need fletcher repairs or juka enhancements, or just a GM bow for use as a throwaway, drop me an ICQ. Rothchild's usually around Skara Brae/Trammel, but is not afraid to go to Felucca for a field repair. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Well, maybe the Britain moongate might be a little too much for him. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Go ahead and make it 90.0 Stealth and 30.0 Focus. Or even better, 105 Anat, 85.0 Stealth, 30.0 Focus.
Thing is, any skill points above #0.0 (that is, a multiple of 10.0) in Focus are flat wasted: no difference at all between 30.0 Focus and 39.9 Focus, but a lot of difference between 39.9 Focus and 40.0 Focus.

I understand the need for 80.1 Stealth versus 80.0 Stealth (even though I've been able to do just fine with 62.0 Stealth and +18 on jewelry), but do yourself a favor and get rid of that 9.9 Focus.

here we go:

120 archery
120 anat
120 tacts
120 focus
110 healing
80 chiv
50 bushido (perfection, if im not using Eo1)

stats are:
100 str
125 dex
33 int 53 mana
elf
scrolled to a true 250 stat cap

currently wearing:
Ornate Crown of the harrower (25% di)
Storm Grip (25% di)
ring 20% di 14% hci
bracelet 22% di 14% hci
Leggings of the Bane (20% HCI)
Tunic of Fire (for the resists)
Elven Quiver

Yeah I know I'm an arty gimp....but give me my magical short bow's with 20+% SSI and he swings once every 1.25 seconds.

100's for each skill are the caps...i haven't worked them that high yet...the skills so far range from the 20's to the 70's...with jewels. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/wink.gif..the char isn't all that much old (maybe 2 weeks). that's why i'm going to soulstone cooking....so she'll have 700 skill points to work towards.

Hey I know this is going to be tough in order to make this template playable, but its someting that I really want to do and would sacrifice some power for getting good ol' fun gameplay.

Okay, so my problem is that I want to make a tamer/bard/archer.

bowcraft is out of the question with this cramped template; I can always get it on another character if I don't have enough money to simply buy arrows.

I will definitely need at least gm tactics, archery, animal taming, animal lore, provocation (or peacemaking; please give me your input on this. I can't have both.), and musicianship. I would like to get some anatomy for the damage increase, but then I would also like healing. Maybe I could take both of these out and have both provo and peace? I also (that word again) would like to have chivalry for EoO; this is, after all, a PvM character. Even without chiv I would need 30 magery or so to recall.

I may just be an archer/bard or an archer/tamer depending on how this discussion goes.

My overall goal for this post is to get a few people's opinions on what they would do; I might just get a bunch of crap thrown at me for rising this idea...maybe I juwst don't know it and this is a horrible thing to try to do...or if it can be done..I not sure it was just an idea.

Just please give me some input on what I should/could do.

Thanks a lot, even if you only took the time to read all of this and not reply.

I've been playing my archer for about 3 years now and he has never been "useless" in any category. He's always been more than suitable for both pvm and pvp. My template is as follows:

110 Arch
100 magery
100 Eval int
100 meditation
85 chiv
110 tact
100 anatomy
+20 stat
80str (+ items to add additional HP)
80dex
85 int (+ mana increase and intelligence items)

With this template I have access to 2 different types of healing, Divine fury for those hard hits that drain your stamina, remove curse, and enemy of one+ a slayer bow DESTROYS most monsters, he's perfect for doom, and I just won a pvp tourney on him lastnight. Who could ask for a better character? Who needs a tamer? http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/smile.gif I've found that with certain items that up your spell damage increase a combo with a composite bow (if mana permits) is devastating Explosion/armor ignore/flamestrike/poison lightning..usually gets the job done if you have the mana to pull it off.

Okay, this is actually my first Warrior character. I've got a Tamer/Bard/Mage and a 'Rares Collector' (he's a Theif, just didn't want any confusion) both on Lake Austin. My next character is going to be an Archer and I just want some input from the Stratics Archer community on how this template sounds:

&gt;&gt;Legendary Archery (120)
&gt;&gt;Legendary Fencing (120)
&gt;&gt;Elder Healing (110)
&gt;&gt;Elder Ninjitsu (110)
&gt;&gt;Grandmaster Tactics (100)
&gt;&gt;Grandmaster Anatomy (100)

That's six skills totaling out to 660 points, leaving me with 45 (1yr account). I'm going to wait until I get my next 5 points then try and work in something useful like Magery. Until then, my traveling is done by foot or recall scroll.

Does this template sound decent? I've never made a Warrior before so this is my first attempt at the class.

<u>EDIT:</u>
What skills should I start this guy/girl with? I've got a character with 85.3 Ninjitsu already so I'm going to Soulstone it when I create the character.

Archery 110
Tactics 110
Music 100
Provoke 110
Peace 110
Chivalry 80

My stats:
Str 100
Dex 80

In fact, I've been thinking about tweeking my peace and provo up to 115.

Okay, here's my Archer on Napa Valley:

Turner (Pure Archer)
Titled: Legendary Archer

Str 100
Dex 100
Int 50

120 Archery
100 Tactics (+10, vet reward)
100 Anatomy (+10, vet reward)
100 Healing
100 Magic Resist
80 Focus
100 Chivalry

Turner uses any bow/crossbow that grants him 'moving shot'... His major flaw is that he has no way to create arrows, but a member of the household (other character) does that for him. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I know that the stats totals are higher than the maximum, but this is because I bought a +25 stat scroll. When my account is older, and I get the max skill points (720 skill points) I'll add to tactics and anatomy, to give him extra "umpf!".

I'm currently nowhere near the skills I need though... *grumbles* Mostly because I spend too much time on my Tamer and Pirate...

i was wondering what is a good archor/stealth pvp char. i was wondering if tactcs or anamony help with damage increase with archory skill. i'm think of a templete like:

Archory 120
Hiding 100
Stealth 120
Focus 120
Ninjisu 120
Tactics 120 (if this helps with damage increase)

Will anyone share there templete for an archer/stealth pvp char please....

what does tactics an anamony have for archory? i thought tactics is for melee skills like swords, Fencing, ect... not for archory? Does it add more damage with anamony?

My three year old archer (that's right- I was "arching" before it was cool http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/tongue.gif):

Nissassa

115 Archery
110 Tactics
110 Anatomy
110 Magic Resist
100 Focus
90 Healing
80 Chivalry

90 Strength
95 Dexterity
40 Intelligence

I'd like to buy a legendary archery scroll, but, ever since this archery boom, I haven't been able to find one. I'm kicking myself for not buying while they were still (relatively) cheap. I think I'd also eventually like to bring up tactics and resist, and drop anatomy back down to GM. And, obviously, my stats could use an upgrade (still mad at myself for using my +5 AoS gift on Archery).

Anyway, I know it's not the best template, but I love my archer.

Ok heres my attempt

120 Archery
120 Tactics
120 Anatomy
120 Chiv
120 Focus
100 Healing (currently 94.7)

Str 77 (made up to 97 with Spirt of totem)
Dex 125 (Made up to 156 by jack collar, ring of Vile, gloves of pugilist)
Int 48 (Made upto 70 mana with arties and mamna inc armour)

Ok I know so I'm an artie wearing victim, but I went for as much dex as possible and built my template around that. He hits pretty hard, I know his hit points would be higher if I made him samurai but at his current dex the space &amp; time between his arrows flying is almost untraceable, I guess I sacrificed power for speed on this guy...............that said my fletcher is workin over time on making arrows, at that dex I can get through 1500 arrows in no time! Also with 120 anat I'm healing in 1-2 secs so it makes him a pretty efficient fighting force, and a good support for pack and guild hunting. I had consdiered tinkering with his template slightly, but not so sure I need too. I ditched hiding as a skill after the invis potions came out and while they are not perfect they help a lot when your targetted by some nasties in doom etc, not good template for pvp but I enjoy it for pvm a lot, and legendary warrior looks so good on a paperdoll!

i tryed this on test center... worked well:

Archery: 120
Magicresist: 120
Bushido: 120
Ninjitsu: 120
Focus:120
Tactics: 100
Str: 100
Dex: 100
Int: 55
You got the healing from the bushido spell "confidence" and from "wolf form" from ninjitsu
Then you got the attacking deadly combo: Death Strike, Lightning strike

Works really well... try it http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I know that the archer is a typically PVP template, and although I may someday head down that road, for now my archer is PVM. My dillema is that I can't decide between a stealth archer, or bandage healing. I would like to have the best of both worlds... so my question is this:

Can some of you give me the reccommeded minimums for these skills (That is, what is the very least of these skills you can have on an archer and still reap decent benefits from it)?

Archery
Anatomy
Tactics
Chivalry
Focus
Healing
Hiding
Stealth
Magic Resist

I'd appreciate any advice.

magic res 60

parry 80.6

Silver'Dove.

Archery: 100 : (This is just for fun ^_^)
Tactics: 100 : (More damage)
Anatomy: 100 : (Even more damage and healing fun)
Healing: 100 : (For the bandages of power)
Resist Magic: 50 : (Improves survivability against those evil mages)
Focus: 50 : (More mana and more stamina)

Bowcrafting : 100 : (Everyone needs a hobby)
Lumberjacking : 100 : (No matter the danger I'll cut your wood)

Ninjitsu : 20 : (Because squirrel form is cute ^_^)

Str : 100
Dex : 100
Int : 30 (+5 Stat scroll)

I decided to mess about with a bowcraft/archer template for fun. Its currently quite a fun build to play and capable of cutting wood while beating on a Juka Lord. ^_^

(i have accidently shot a friend in a hunt or two who did not report) he has full 70s suit medable with stat increase and hit chance and only a couple arties. in truth i have found enhanced high end magic gear is much better in many cases than the arties.

Ok, here's my template without enhancements, other than power scrolls: (updated as of 16 Sep 06)

GM Archer 102
GM/Legendary Focus 120.0
GM Fisher 100
GM Meditation 104.3
Magery 81.8
Bow/fletching 66.3
Lumberjacking 48.0
Swordmanship 33 (basically used in case the bow gets taken and I have to fight for my life)

Slowly working on my magery now, and doing the fletching quests. Probably do some spellweaving when the time is right.

As for resistance, with the new armor I have, and the brac and ring, I have all 70's except for physical, which is 68. I really need to work on Dex and Stamina, which are below 80.

Take care!

a bad mistake if you have chiv you get all your stam back with divine fury and med gets mana back faster so if you have chiv take med over focus if you can't have both and if you only have room of 160 or 180 then take med at 100 and focus at the smaller one now if you don't have chiv then maybe you do want focus instad of med

wow what a range.. my pick for temp of my archer mage is that of this

110magery
110eval
115archery
115tacs
100med
100anat
70 chiv
might change it around... do i need anat?
if i max chiv to 100 and make magery eval archery tacs med 120?

04-14-2007, 12:19 AM
I might as well post my template see if anyone else has had success with similar.

120 archer
100 hiding
80 stealth
100 Ninja
80 mage resist
50 chiv
95 anat
90 focus

I run a full HCI darkwood suit, Brace of Health, Crimson and Talisman of Arms which means im 16hpr on the suit as well as the hpr on the focus, and i can add another bloodwood darkwood piece for 2 more hpr if i need to.
My ring is 12hci +7dex 25di, so overall im 43hci 35dci (with quiver) but without my bow.

Alot of people think im crazy for using no healing, (although i swap healing for focus at times) but i use dog form when i need a fast heal. I'm 160hp in wolf form so can take alot of hits before i drop.

I dont hit hard, but with the high hci i use a nice little shortbow:
44 fireball
46 lower defence
25ssi
38 di

and my dismount weapon of choice is my heavy xbow
43 lower defence
38 mana leech
1fc
13hci
30ssi.

Overall the aim of my char is to dismount, reskill and annoy. I can normally regen through most poisons, bleeds and strangles.

Has anyone ever used a template like this, and what kind of success have you had with it?

and ABC does not need parry confindence work great for an archer your goul as an archer is not to get hit so confidnece just keep giving you hp back until you do or it times out

it's probably the stongest archery temp out there

could anyone explain me, how exactly an abc archer should work?

my template (when finsihed) should be:

120 Archery
110 Tactics
100 Anatomy
90 Resist
100 Bushido
90 Healing
70 Chiv
40 Meditation

if i´m correct, this should be a great template for pvm, and also for pvp. But mostly 1vs1 or am i wrong and there is some way to do crowds (f.e. champ spawns) also?

08-26-2007, 05:51 PM
I have changed my template since the tactics nerf, im just a vamp form archer now, no stealth or anything, but wooden armor is bugged, it acts like mage armor for some reason hehe. You can stealth with it.

I just reactivated my account after a number of years not playing (I quit right after Renaissance was released). I still have all my old characters, and right now I want to make one of them into a combination Archer/Fencer that is viable in both PvM and perhaps slightly moreso in PvP. This is where he is right now, and you can see from this the direction I'm taking him in:

100 Anatomy (Probably going to go higher...)
100 Fencing (Probably going to go higher...)
100 Tactics (Probably going to go higher...)
78.9 Healing (Goal: 100)
64.1 Resisting Spells (Goal: 100)
100 Archery (Probably going to go higher...)

Any opinions or tips as to how viable this type of template is would be much appreciated. As well, how useful is the Focus skill in PvP? Should I maybe add it into the equation and not go so high on one or two of the combat skills?

01-02-2008, 04:02 PM
with those six skills and a cap of 720 take em all to 120, expensive yes, effective yes, are there more effective temps definatly. 90 heal is no fail heal, ressurections are another story though, currently im runnin

120 archery
120 tact
120 anat
115 resist(pushin for 120, 105 real + 15 jewel)
100 med
95 heal(droppin to 90)
65 chiv(being this is mainly a pvp temp the 65 is for cw df rc and close wounds only) for pvm go gm or higher for at a high karma holy light does a great deal of damage
In pvm gm resist is fine but for pvp definalty go 120
you want the 120 archery and tact for pvp paired with high hci 45%cap to ensure you land those specials.
anat at 120 is not neccesary, i do it for the slight increase in damage output
you only need 60 to cure poison and 80 to resurect although not as effectively
I run Med on him with medable suit and decent regen for the massive mana required for specials., But My temp is by far trumped by say a ABC archer or Stealth archer, hell you could try poison archer and run around with an elvin longbow, i did that for a while untill i realized the dammed poisen arrow was droppin my karma and with chiv high karma is a must.

02-07-2008, 09:13 AM
Probably silly, but what is the basic ABC template, assuming 720 skill points?

I'm on Siege, BTW, so I won't be running around with a ton of Arties.

My basic ABC archer:

Bushido 120
Archery 120
Resist 120
Chivalry 80
Tactics 90
Anatomy 100
healing 90

Connor_Graham

And mine:

Archery 120
Bushido 120
Tactics 115
Anatomy 100
Healing 100
Resist 90
Chiv 75

Although I'm thinking about dropping Anatomy to 90 and bumping Tactics to 120 and Chiv back up to 80 just to decrease the failure rate of EoO. With this template I hit the damage cap with a heavy crossbow.

Thanks so much!

I recently returned, and some of these skills weren't even in the game when I left, so I'm playing catch-up http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh, one more question... what stats are you running with, on these templates?

Assuming 255 base...

Connor_Graham
02-11-2008, 10:01 AM
90 Str

My archer is also an elf, which gives another 20 mana, and with armor bonuses and jewels, he's at 87 mana, which is pretty large for a warrior type. He also has 116 HP's even with 90 Str, and 154 Stam.

Need some advice for a Tamer / Archer template. Currently I'm at

This is a basic Tamer/Archer template based on 700 skill points and 225 stat:

110 Archery
90 Tactics
110 Animal Taming
110 Animal Lore
90 Veterinary
70 Anatomy
75 Magery
45 Meditation
________________________________________
80 str / 50 int / 95 dex

Here's my ambitious archer/mage/tamer on Napa Valley.

100 Archery (+20 Hunter's Headdress) makes 120
90 Tactics (+12 Arms of Tactics and +3 on ring) makes 105
115 Animal Taming (+ 5 Bird Tali) makes 120
115 Animal Lore (+5 Bird Tali) makes 120
100 Veterinary (+15 Ring) makes 115
100 Magery (+10 Alchemist's Bauble) makes 110
100 Meditation

With all that equipment, it puts her 70 skill points above her 720 skill cap.

This is a fun character because you have the ability to play all three professions at the same time. You can have your pets on a monster, while shooting at it and just for good measure you can throw in a couple ebolts or whatever between heals on the pet. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I gave up on the whole archer/tamer template. I can't bear to train taming a second time around. I was thinkinga about this samurai / archer template

110 Bushido (if I can ever afford a 120 I could drop healing to 90 and Bushido to 120)
110 Archery (same here, 120 archery and drop anat to 90)
100 Tactics
100 Anat
100 Healing
80 Chivalry
80 Focus (was med but I'm aiming for a jackal's collar, which isn't medable)
35 Necro (items used to get to vamp form)

How's this look for a PvM / Doom character?

Lose the Focus. It's basically worthless still and can be made up for with judicious selection of items on your suit. This is the template I use on my archer, which always gets looting rights, if not top damager, and has yet to die in Doom:

120 Archery
120 Bushido
115 Tactics (Going to 120 as soon as I hit my 4th yr)
100 Healing (Have to have 100 to cure Rotting Corpse poison)
95 Anatomy
90 Resist
75 Chiv

6 MR on your suit, a Ring of the Vile or 6 SR on your suit, and 6 or more HPR and you'll be set. Use only bows with SSI and ML on them. Rune Beetle Carapace and Brightsight Lenses will give you the 6 MR you need, or you can use Mace &amp; Shield and get 3 MR on the other armor pieces. It's not really hard or expensive to put together a suit like this.

This template has also been able to receive a Cloak of Corruption (5 actually) from Shadowlords without using blackrock, and that's after 3 people have already hit the SL with it.

Thanks Conner! Do you think vamp form for an archer is feasible? I like the 20% life leech idea I've read in your other posts.

If focus is that useless, where should i dump the other 80 points? I don't see Resist as that useful in PvM. I can remove curses and poisons through chivalry. The only thing I really have to worry about is paralyze.

Connor_Graham
04-16-2008, 02:42 PM
"I don't see Resist as that useful in PvM."

If you plan on going to Doom, or fighting anything high end that curses, you'll want resist. Bows are slow enough as it is, and with no resist, getting cursed by something like a Balron, or an Abyssmal Horror will have you pulling your hair out at the slow swing speed, not to mention the increased healing time. There's also that pesky Blood Oath, which without resist, lasts for 30 seconds I believe. Unless you want to carry more apples than arrows, the points in resist are well worth it. On a dexxer, not so much, but on an archer, it does make a difference.

As far as Necro, I really haven't found a need for it on my archer, and much prefer to use the skill points to increase my damage output.

My template for comparison:

120 Archery
120 Bushido
115 Tactics
100 Healing
95 Anatomy
90 Resist
75 Chiv

I hit the damage cap very easily with this template.

Yes, but it's hard to cast that when you've got a rev beating on ya, not to mention you're in an enclosed, locked room in Doom, and the bosses are just on the edge of the screen still casting on you. You also have to remember that they're just going to cast it again as soon as you remove it, so it's really wasted mana until the boss is down. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Yes, the higher your Bushido, the better the % chance of hitting a Critical Strike is. At 120 Bushido you have a 20% chance, whereas at GM, you only have 13%. It does make quite a bit of difference.

I would suggest a slight change to the template you quoted. I would take 5 points from Chivalry and put them into Tactics for the additional damage increase you get from having it at 120. Otherwise the above template is exactly what I'm running right now. If you have 720 skill points instead of the 715 total of the above template, I'd put the remaining 5 points into Anatomy for GM level, which gives another slight increase in damage.

For an Archer 90 Resist is enough for PvM. You're much better off putting the points into Healing for 100% cure on lethal poison.

you dont need Resist what so ever in PVM. My Sammy iis doing great vs everything. Sometimes the paraylze is annoying, but nothing more than annoying.
If you have a 70 resist suit or close to it, just drop resist and get something usefull, if you just do pvm!

I am a pure solo PVM archer and feel very strongly about Resist. I have 120 Resist and it keeps me mobile against Demons, Liches, Ancient & Shadow Wyrms, Balrons and many other heavy magic users. I've played without Resist before and having it has absolutely improved my gaming experience.
Sure you can play without it successfully and your tactics may differ from mine but I love the freedom it gives me to really get up close and mix it up without fear of "paralyze, e-bolt, e-bolt, flamestrike, oOoooOOO"

I disagree completely. For an Archer, Resist is a must have skill. Being cursed, especially against something like an Abyssmal Horror, kills an Archer's swing speed.

That'll use up your mana very quickly. Especially considering they'll just curse you again almost immediately. It's better to have the resist and not have to waste mana on something you can easily avoid.

Even when i solo them, i still do fine and kill Horror in 1-2 minutes with hit and run tactic. They are weak to physical damage, so no need to CW. I hit them for 140-150 dmg each hit with my demon slayer xD.
But most part someone is tanking horrors be it dexxer or dragon and it only occasionly cast curses on me, which i successfully remove.

Connor_Graham

You're also forgetting about Blood Oath. Without resist it lasts, what, 2 minutes or longer? There's just too many situations when you're around creatures that not only cast mage spells but Necro ones too. In those cases it's much better in the long run to have Resist than not.

Sir Kenga
10-25-2008, 10:03 AM
BO without resist last 30-40 seconds. That's a lot for sure, but:
Chivalry: Remove Curse
If dangerous situation, use Primer of Arms abylity on run.
Eat apples, though few take apples on hunt.

But for lazy person resist is surely a very good option.

Connor_Graham
10-25-2008, 12:01 PM
It has nothing to do with laziness and everything to do with reserving mana for damage output and not damage control. The more mana you're wasting on removing things from your character is that much less mana you have to increase the damage you're doing to the creature you're fighting.

Sir Killalot

I see a lot of people having spent 100 points in healing as well as chivalry, isn't that unneccecary? Chiv can heal yourself as well as others, and even mass resurrect. I am going with 100 archery, 100 tactics, 100 focus, 100 chivalry, 100bowcraft/fletching, 100 lumberjack and 100 anatomy.

11-26-2008, 03:33 AM
The reason that healing is better than chivalry for healing is that it takes no mana and does not get interrupted. Since an archer typically has very high strength and dex, any mana savings at all is an improvement.

The other benifit of healing is to use it with another healing skill (bushido/chivalry) to go from almost no hit points to max hit points in 4 seconds.

Redundancy in healing skills is not wasted.

Where can you buy apples in Doom?

What do you do when you eat an apple then get cursed immediately afterward while the timer is in effect?

An archer WITH Resist will outdamage and outperform an archer without every single time.

I agree completely with this statement. Mana is hard enough to come by since they nerfed ML on bows and MR on armor. Anywhere mana can be conserved should be taken advantage of. The archer that knows how to spend his/her mana wisely will do better than one that wastes it needlessly.

Ok, I created my doom archer template and he totally owns! I've taken him to travesty, invasions, doom, etc. Altogether, he kicks serious butt. Here's the template I went with:

Lorcan Ludovic (Elf)

120 Archery (+20 hunter's headdress)
90 Tactics
90 Bushido
90 Healing
90 Anatomy
115 spellweaving
60 med
75 chiv

90 STR (+1 conjurer's trinket = 89 base)
135 DEX (+8 hunter's headdress, +8 ring of the vile +5 crimson cincture = 114 base)
60 INT (+8 stormgrip = 52 base)

I visited Doom for my first time on Sunday. I got a drop within 45 minutes. The beauty of this template is in the weaving. The strategy is 1) natures fury/summon fey to tank, 2) EOO, 3) Consecrate, 4) lighting strike (repeated). Against travesty, DFs, invader generals, etc., I usually hit for 120-130 damage. 5) Thrown in an occasional wildfire for an extra punch. 6) Finally, when their hp is down, WOD 2-3 times for 300 damage each time, or a total of 900 damage in under 15 seconds.

Needless to say, this is my new favorite character. One note, I do try to stick with mana leech bows - at least 40% - so I don't run out of mana.

PS: Armor Details, for those interested (I always am, but no one ever posts)-

Arties: hunter's headdress, quiver of infinity, conjurer's trinket, ornament of the magician, ring of the vile, stormgrip, rune beetle carapace, crimson cincture
Resists: Physical 70, Fire 70, Cold 70, Poison 70, Energy 75
HCI 40% (max), DCI 5%, DI 55%

So I've been outta the loop for about a year and needed some advice of how I could maximize a couple of characters. Let me know what skills you think I could switch between the two, what caps I should have and maybe what items I could pick up.Account is 72 months these are mainly PVM chars...

Char 2: Samurai

Swords 110
Tactics 110
Anat 100
Parry 100 (+10 samurai do)
Bushido 100
Resists 100
Healing 100

Any help is appreciated!

I am gonna try to tackle char:2 as I am working similar template
a lot depends on what you want to spend and what you like to do this is what i am working on almost done

115 swords
115 tactics
100 parry
100 anat
100 bushido 120 with jewels
100 resist
90 heal
now if you have the money to buy em take tac and sword to 120 and take other ten points from whatever you can make up with items other words if your shield has plus 5 parry then lower parry 5 maybe jewels or whatever the bad thing about this combo is you can make yourself reliant on certain items
if you just need to lower somthing I would either lower resist or anat the extra ten
as for a suit all 70's is what to shoot for for resist 75 energy if an elf plus extra 20 mana but you carry less
mana leech on weapon and stamina leech are always good hit spell is popular hard to say not sure if pvm or pvp this is pvm orientated
if you can work dci and hci in this is great the more the better although with ls you get major hci boost oh and work lots of di into your suit 60 minimum counting tali i would go for as close to 100 as you can makes you less reliant on di on the weapon itself
anyway hope this helps is working for me so far i just need to finish off parry i just bought it so gonna be a few for i am done

oh and hld is always good to most people like the mace and shield glases you get 30 hld
with them [lus str and dex if i remember correctly

Thanks for the reply Storm! That is what I was originally going for but after doing some research I see that people are now able to solo peerless bosses and even the dark father. I figured I'd be able to switch some skills using soulstones and make a pretty good char between the two.

Whats up with the Sampire? Are Necro/Archers still good? Whats the best amount of chivalry to have?

Agreed .. I find it odd that bushido (lit strike, basically) was dropped for stamina regen?? Well and some MR..

You can get stamina regen, and mana regen for that matter, upon the death of anything you've honored. They can also be regen'ed with a bow that has both as leeches. The small amount of regen that Focus gives is less than what you'd get just from having the leeches on your bow.

Char 1: was going for a Necro/Archer 7xGM

Archery
Anat
Tactics
Necro
SS
Resist
Healing

I would suggest dropping Resist & Anat both to 90 and taking Archery to 120. You might even consider dropping Healing and adding Bushido, using Vamp form and Curse Wep for healing.

Char 2: Samurai

Swords 110
Tactics 110
Anat 100
Parry 100 (+10 samurai do)
Bushido 100
Resists 100
Healing 100

Any help is appreciated!

I would drop Resist completely, and push swords, parry & bushido to 120. Add Chiv to 60 to finish it off.

Thanks for the help Connor much appreciated! Those both sound like good templates I was thinking maybe taking the characters another direction. I'm very curious about the Sammy/Sampire templates. And I'm also not sure what makes the best archer combination Necro/Archer, Bushido/Archer, Pally/Archer...what would your ideal Archer, Samurai and Necromancer templates be?

Here are the templates for both my ABC archer and Sampire:

Archer-

120 Archery
120 Bushido
120 Tactics
100 Healing
95 Anatomy
90 Resist
75 Chiv

Sampire-

120 Wep Skill
120 Bushido
120 Parry
95 Tactics
100 Necro
100 Anat/SS/Resist
65 Chiv

A lot of people would go with GM Tactics and 60 Chiv, but I couldn't handle the failure rate on Cons Wep and Divine Fury, so ended up dropping 5 points from one to the other.

Sounds good to me thanks so much for the help! I'm gonna steal your templates if you don't mind :)

This is one that I had for a few minutes while switching my template around to something that fits my character better:
110 archery (scrolling issues, would have liked 120 more)
110 bushido
110 tactics
100 necromancy
110 anatomy
90 healing
The rest of the skill points were mixed between parry (dropped swords for archery) and chivalry. It was a transition time from not wanting a sampire any more since playing alone stinks for me and wanting to try out archery. But the results were rather pleasant. Just like with the sampire, I never had to heal. And staying away from your opponents made most fights very easy. Fighting high end very fast opponents was still troublesome, since stopping meant getting hit hard. A necro-warrior really needs parry IMO.

So I dropped necromancy in favor of meditation. Having mana for special moves all the time is a boon for my play style.

So my template now is:
115 bushido
115 archery
115 tactics (I really don't care for 120s unless I find them myself)
100 anatomy
90 healing
90 meditation
80 chivalry
15 unallocated points because I'm too lazy to train more. Due to my learning how to PvP, I'm thinking about exchanging bushido for resist, but the opponents I fight (Trammel-based wars) tend to not have magery, so bushido stays for now.

FC 2, FCR 3, MI 15, MR 5, LMC 25%
HPI 20, HPR 5, StI 4, SR 6

Dude, have you considered to drop your INT by 5 and add the 5 to your dex to total 140, to get the max speed 4 sec heals?

Dont drop it off your str, unless all your armor is below 80 str to wear. if not, it can fall off into your pack, when you get cursed and your str dips below 80

Balian, most of the archer/tamers that are hardcore PvPers don't have vet.

They substitute that out for better PvP skills.

There is a calculator to see how much lore/taming you need to control a dreadmare on Stratics.

I have an archer tamer, but it's for PvP/PvM.

My template atm is:
115 Lore
105 taming (jewels to get higher)
100 Archery (and rising)
90 Tactics (mainly just for specials)
100 Vet ( since I PvM a lot w/this chr)
105 Chivalry (atm so I can Holy Light the spawn) probably will drop down to 60 when I change template.

Sadly I can't remember the other skills I have off-hand... =/

I heal with potions and 3/5 chivalry. I go with an all around PvP/PvM tamer/archer template so I'm effective in both fields.

The PvP template!
Skills
Archery 100-120 // for best accuracy
Tactics 100-120 // for more damage
Anatomy 80-100 // for more damage
Hiding or Fencing 100// for sudden kill
Spellweaving 100 // for healing while you are attacking your enemy
Poisoning 100 // will slow kill him while you attack
Chivalry 45 // for more damage

The rest
choose any skills you want.(may be necromancy 40)

Stats
str 100 // for more damage and health
dex 45 (or 70)// for speed
int 70 // for special moves(abilities)

I'm sorry Pod, but I fail to see how that template could outlast anyone in a one on one situation... maybe in a group setting it could do alright. Your only methods of healing are SW which takes long to cast and has a recast timer for Gift of Renewel and Chivalry heals which you need at least 2FC to be at all efective.

I don't know if you've PvP'd latey, but most anyone who has some common sense carries 5+ cure pots... so the poison idea slow killing someone is gonna be hard.

Creative template... but I'm sure even an ABC archer designed more towards PvM could own that template.

I'd have to agree with this. Hell, I think even I could beat that template since it has no real method of healing, especially since the heal pots were nerfed.

Hey Max HCI is 45 and max DI from items is 100%.

Connor is more or less a guru when it comes to PVM archers im sure he can help ya out with the template. the ABC archers are probably the best PVM template right now, thats a template that use both bushido and Chiv.

There is ALOT of threads concerning this kinda template so just browse around a bit.

And btw since im allready posting. 100% DI cap is for items, skills and abilitys doesnt affect that. So ontop of 100% from items you could get up to 300% DI through several diffrent propertys and abilitys(slayer weapons, enemy of one, Perfection etc).

HCI cap is 45, but you can overcap to account for HLA. DI cap for PvM is 300%, and I think 100% for PvP, but I could be wrong on that. Something you might want to consider is lowering some of the skills like Healing, Anat & Chiv and adding Bushido.

Okay, so I just started playing again after about a two year hiatus. I started from scratch about two weeks ago and I'm at about 75-90 for all my skills. Here's my template:

Animal Taming - 120
Animal Lore - 120
Veterinary - 120
Archery - 120
Tactics - 120
Magery - 100

Str - 90
Dex - 90
Int - 70

This is still in the works because I have some issues. First off, I don't know what I should use the leftover points on. I really don't plan on using Magery for anything more than summoning Blades and Vortices so taking it to 120 seems a little useless. I was thinking picking up Anatomy, but I forgot what the Total Skill Cap was. I also didn't know how important Intelligence is to taming pets. If it's not that important I might drop it to 60 and raise the other two to 95. Otherwise they stay as is.

Thanks in advance!

The skill point cap is 720 on a 4 yr account, less if the account is less than 4 yrs old.

If you made just a few minor changes you'd have a powerhouse template...
