I used to frequent the stratics boards years ago but soon learned of something better: UOpowergamers.com. Then the UO boards opened and they were decent. I hope stratics can at least maintain the level of decency(?) that the MyUO boards have/had.

Well, I just posted my last post on uo.com so I guess I best say hi on this board.
Hopefully the end of the uo.com boards will not mean the death of developer - player communication on the boards in the same way as occured when EverQuest nerfed there official boards.
So I hope to see many more 'red' posts (is it still red posts or do we have another name for them here? /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif) and a continuation of the open developer - player communication that is of the things that I like about the UO community.

I just want to say that I think this is a great idea. I think you all will have a lot more time to post and respond to players if you're not busy moderating the boards.

For myself, it'll be a lot easier to find things...I used to get so confused trying to remember if an old post was on UO.com or here. Now I just have one place to look. My only regret is the loss of the old "archived" posts on uo.com...there was a lot of valuable info out there that I used to often go back and find. Don't suppose there's any chance of sending some of that stuff over here?

that lawn chair is one of the l33t dungeon doom rares, Helios being the ultra k3wl dewd he is, knew just what series of dark fathers to treat to an ale(and deadly poison), after which he knew which cracks in the floor to avoid and which ones to put spackle on to be able to cross, after that was done, he knew which levers to fix with the golden sprocket and was rewarded with the ultra cool artifact level 12 lawn chair. Hope this answers any lingering questions about that one. =)

Hmmm. I've posted on Stratics a lot longer than I have on MyUO Boards, though I've played UO from almost the beginning.

Something I've never felt on either the MyUO or the Stratics forums was welcomed. Seems if you spent hours of time and made thousands of posts, whether they were worthwhile or not, you were one of the "in-crowd" and welcome to sit around the circle.

Always thought that was rather dumb, since so many boards have their own registrations and you may have made many more posts than people with a little title under their name. My EZ Board account has one of those. I cringe when I see it.

At any rate, thanks for the welcome to MyUO people and though I am not new, I'll take it as applying to me, too, if that's okay?

I guess I'll be visiting Stratics a lot more than normal now then.
It's a strange turn up for the books, but it does make a lot of sense, I just hope Stratics can handle the load, and is willing to review any users that were banned pre-move. I have a couple of friends who got themselves banned from stratics, it would be nice to see them able to use the boards again given that they suddenly became much more important.

unless I see a serious increase in dev team posts, i'm really going to be unhappy in having to deal with this slower, much more heavily advirtised board. If I have to see one more half screen, text blocking, EQ ad with that stupid frog guy on it, i'm just going to quit coming here. That's not true of course, because then i'd be dooming myself to never come here, cuz god knows stratics is going to keep advirtising EQ infront of me forever. I used to love stratics, even worked for them for a while as a shard reporter, and i understand that they have to make their money and all, but jesus jumping christ on a pogo stick! What can I do to stop the stupid EQ banner ad from coming across my screen every time! I'd actually pay $5 a month just to not see that frickin thing!

1) Are there specific forums we should post in if we want to try and get an answer from one of the OSI devs? If we post something in one of the profession forums, like tinkering, or smithing, or on one of the shard specific forums, does it have just a good a chance at being answered?
Or do you plan on paying special attention to certain forums, and we should focus our questions to the dev team in those forums?

2) Are there more original board members here, or is the group of people comming over from uo.com a larger group? Because if the new group is larger... then this board is now OURS!!! na na na na na.

I stopped going to stratics cuz it's so god damn slow and I really hate sitting there waiting for 10 years for the thread to load. I liked the community and atmosphere of the uo.com boards better as well.

Whenever stratics has been down we'd get stratics posters coming to uo.com and there was a lot of animosity between the two groups. I read a thread here where one of the mods wasn't very happy with us uo.com posters coming over.... So I can't say that I feel very welcome, but it's not like I have much choice eh? You all don't want us, we don't want to be here, but I guess we all have to deal.

So, I'm here, though I feel very lost and displaced.

I am not familiar with every board, but as for the ones I frequent, Stratics does have a family atmostphere, and we hope that many of you will join in like a new relative. We have our quarrels, but we are also fiercely protective and helpful to our own.

There are different "groups" of posters on Stratics...even as there are different moderators and forum atmospheres, depending upon which board that you frequent here. It's about as difficult to define the entire group here by the thoughtless post of one, as it is, to, well, define the entire group of uo.com regulars by a brace of flamers.

Having said that, rest assured that the mainstay of UO Stratics fora is the overall friendly, helpful and mature attitudes here. /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif

Still, please bear in mind that there are some boards in this group that many of us regulars do not frequent, due to their, umm...slightly...well...more kriegspiel-type of atmospheres. /php-bin/shared/images/icons/wink.gif

What I did was make my Control Panel my main link. Then I'm adding people to the address book, to see when they're on. Adding Forums to my favorites and adding posts I want to follow.

When you add forums to your favorites your control panal page sort of resembles the UOboards in that it tells you which forums have new posts.

Also when you select a thread to follow (add favorite to you control panel) you are notified on your control panal page if you get a reply by a little new icon.

Use this information as you will. Just trying to help out.

It did seem a little put on didn't it. Especially since he interacted about as often as a lawn ornament in the old boards.

If they have the time to go through the posts here and respond to them then they had the time on the myUO posts. Its as simple as that.

All of this is just a kick in the teeth to all of us that loved the community we had over at myUO.

well, the boards are slower then uo. i also find it hilarious they dump all this on stratics, the laggiest website ive ever been to, hell it doesnt even work half the time. i cant imagine how its gonna suck when all the uoers come here. oh, but maybe stratics get a nice payment for doing this and will beef up their servers, cqause if they are not gettign paid for doing uo's dirty work well..to each thier own.

I like the overall stystm here better than at My UO boards. I used both becasue I wanted to get second oppions on certain matters. But to be onest, I mostly used My UO becuase it seemed a little faster, maybe it's all these ads here at stratics or something. But I guess something has to support it, so I won't complain. At least now all my peoples are in one place mostly. Except those exclusely at powergamers.

Hello and thank you for allowing us to come to stratics. I do have one question however... if we offend EA / OSI people will we continue ot get banned in-game?

Not that I am planning on doing that, however, on occasion I will get mad enough to say things I rather regret (like asking OSI personnel if they use PR reps... BAD move... no one do that /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif ). Or will we experience a more open and less "censored" posting experience?
