*Finds a comfortable chair and tries to remember the details *

A long time ago, before T2A people would gather here at U-Hall every day. They would ask questions and tell of tails. But not before Frenna would set up a Coffee Pot for any and all to enjoy.

Soon this became a ritual and Frenna was given the nick name Frenna the Coffee Queen. People would come from all over the land just to taste here wonderful coffee and start their days or for some end their days with a sense of camaraderie.

Frenna was soon joined by a group of regulars, one being Stasis. Stasis seemed to get to U-Hall somewhat sooner that Frenna, and would post something like * Sets up the morning Buffet and waits for Frenna Under the table. *

Well soon people would start asking for certain items to be added to the Buffet, or they would bring in their favorite Items to share. But Mostly people would ask for an item and the post would go like this.

Visitor * Looks for the Bagels, and the cream cheese *
Stasis * Points over by the coffee pot to the basket of Bagels and the cream cheese*
Visitor * does not see the jellies or jams, or the Pancakes *
Stasis * wheels in the cart with the jellies and jams and makes a fresh batch of Pancakes, both plain and Blue Berry*
Visitor * what no strawberries for the pancakes? I like Waffles better any way *
Stasis * Makes a fresh batch of Waffles and all the toping you could think of, even Fish Spread *

ETC ETC ETC….

So as the weeks went on, More and More people would ask for things. And Stasis would start the post like this:
*Brings in the Breakfast Buffet with all kinds of meats and pastries, Eggs of many different styles and both pancakes and waffles. Along with 7 different juices and all the topping for the waffles you could think of *

And Still people would respond to the post, * Where is the Toast, I see no Tea How can this happen on Monday AHHHHHHHHHHHHH *

So Stasis developed the ABM (Automatic Breakfast Machine) Just approach the machine and tell it what you want, and with in seconds, you will have what ever you want.
People started asking why they could only get Breakfast Foods out of the machine, when so many people are all over the world. One persons Breakfast time is another persons Lunch or Dinner or snack etc…

So Stasis made some modifications and the ABM would produce any thing any time day or night.

The long and the short of this post, is that the ABM is a virtual Water Cooler / Coffee pot, where people can come and share what happened yesterday with the other U-Hallers. Kinda like people do in real life at their jobs.

I hope this clears up any questions about the ABM, and I hope I have gotten the History somewhat accurate. If not I am sorry for those I left out and please any one, correct or add to the story as you see fit.

Peace be with You all of My U-Hall Friends and Family

And now I can have my Peanutbutter and Jam sandwiches whenever I enter the room.

All hail the fabled ABM.

Tyme for a Rhyme:-

I’d wake up in the morning,
And log into the Boards,
Where lots of other posters,
Gathered in their hoards.

We’d ask for some coffee,
But some foods were just a dream,
Until they invented it,
The fabled Breakfast Machine.

It could make your coffee,
And your breakfast as well.
Although it was made by a machine,
No one could ever tell.

It made your hot waffles,
With jams of every type,
It is a magical machine,
It lives up to the hype.

It can make toasted bagels,
Spread with the creamiest cheese,
Hot toast and marmalade,
And 7 types of teas.

Each and every morning,
Shortly after dawn.
Incomes the ABM,
To keep the food stuff warm.

Its insides are just like magic,
It makes thousands of different things,
Just tell it what you really want
And it’s ready when it PING’s.

Actually, the story has it's roots even further back in time.

Long before the new Stratics software, long before the mass exodus to the Ebolter Inn, long before OSI set up their forums, back in the days when the various Red Names would post here on U-Hall, back in the days when anyone could post under any name they wished, Purple Dragon used start each day with a post title "Morning All! *passes out coffee*". And various people would respond. It was the prototype of the roll call.

I was still very much in lurker mode back then. Hard to believe me as being someone shy, eh? If you'll notice, the times I post the "coffee thread" in the morning, I try to blend both Purple Dragon and Frenna's style.

All you good folk should take a little time to look at the history of the modern world. Once, certain people used to drink tea. Some of these people such as Gengis Kahn, George the (pick a number), and Mao Tse Tung had a reaction that made them very aggressive and they set about trying to conquor the world. Then, someone discovered coffee in the new world called America. After a time, coffee became generally available in the "civilised" world, and shortly thereafter, the industrial revolution began.
So, it is probably safe to say that, without coffee, we would all be running about with swords and muzzle loaders today instead of having the internet to try to master.

I knew what it stood for and what the purpose was, but never knew the story. I signed up in stratics I believe november 2001. I was a viewer before, but I always just looked about. Never was a player that gets recognized on these boards.... tried... but just can't hold up to the regulars and mods hehe.

Wow, I didn't know it went back far. I am more familiar with Stasis, and can vaguely remember Frenna(or maybe its just my imagination, anyways). Yes the ABM has been around much longer then I have

Ummm. You might want to look at the date(s) of the original post(s). This thread is basically an historical document. http://boards.stratics.com/php-bin/shared/images/graemlins/wink.gif

There was a time for about a year when the ABM was in poor form so I made real breakfast and coffee for about 9 months of that. There are a few people here who might remember my old username Eric of Rhavyn. Ahh those were the days.

15 days now I have not logged into the game. I guess I really did quit. But I shall keep hanging out here for a long time......
