I pulled out my two legacy nightmares last night. I started training them up and they are both going past what OSI claims are the maximum skill caps, which are as follows;

Nightmare

Skills
Wrestling 80.5 - 92.5
Tactics 97.6 - 100.0
Resist Spells 85.3 - 100.0
Magery 10.4 - 50.0..........................(Both of mine are are in the 50's and gaining)
Evaluate Intelligence 10.4 - 50.0........(Both of mine are in the high 80's and gaining)

Meditation (Missing from OSI's List)........(Both are in the high 80's and gaining)

Did I miss an announcement that they were changing skill caps on the Nightmares?

Was there a change with the addition of the Dread Mares?

I also noticed on both of my mares that it does not show that they have the "Equine" pack instinct when I lore them.

Any ideas here??????

Please don't move this over to the Tamer Forum. I posted there already and have gotten no response. I am hoping someone from the DEV Team can reply to this. Thank you. :)

Mine doesn't list as equine either. But then I don't remember if it did before.

I don't remember if mine did either. I know my fire steed does, but I assumed that the Nightmares would as well.

The skills listed on hunters guide are the range with which the creature can spawn. Skills can be trained to GM. I have a 7 x GM nightmare, as have several other people. If strength and HP go over the posted limits that would be different.

All the "skills" (magery, resist, med etc) are trainable up to GM on all pets aren't they? Teh ranges that you posted (Wrestling 80.5 - 92.5) are what they are "born" with, then you train them to GM (I think the exception is greater Draggies? If they are "born" with a skill over GM, it stays that way? Not exactly sure on that, not had anythign really to do with them yet =))

Good to know Petra. Thank you for clearing this up for me. I haven't used them forever.

Do you know if they have the equine pack instinct or not?

My old mare is 7x, but I still prefer my dread to her. I also have an old wyrm thats 7x. They made quite the team at one time.

as far as I know mares don't have 'pack instinct' I think only firesteeds do of the larger pets.

Yes, Teeshy some of the newer pets can have over GM skills. Rune beetles can have poisoning and eval over gm. Whatever the value is for those skills on taming becomes the 'cap' for that skill. They will lose points when they die, as all pets do, but can re-train back to that cap. Greater dragons can train up to a percentage of their pre-tame skill I believe, I'd have to look that up on the guide for the figures though.

That's right, only firesteeds have the equine pack instinct, the nightmares never had. This was introduced when Firesteeds were added. Firesteeds also have the daemon instinct and can team up with imps. They were also the first pets that can have > GM skills.

You can train any pet to GM skills. You are probably thinking of the amount of skill they originally spawn with.
