1 Supported Platforms

• MS Windows XP (Home, Pro, Media Center Edition) with SP3, on x86-32 architectures
• MS Windows Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate) with SP1 on x86-32 architectures
• Apple Mac OS X 10.5 and higher on x86-32 and PowerPC_32 architectures

Voon is likely to work on Windows XP and Windows Vista on 64-bit platforms, but has not been officially tested.

2 Improvements
2.1 User Interface

Users no longer receive two password request dialogue boxes when attempting to join a password-protected room and then canceling the password entry request
The taskbar icon will now properly flash with the name of the session containing a new message or the name of a user sending you a new incoming IM, whichever was received last. Existing sessions will not change the taskbar, but will still flash
Inputting an incorrect password upon login will no longer cause the client to suspend and require a force quit in order to release it
Mac users will no longer see a white edge on the session flyout when it is first viewed or resized
Mac users will no longer see a white box around “Privacy Statement” after clicking it on the login page
Users will no longer lose their cursor or ability to type in Voon after exiting the Audio Tuning Wizard or bookmarking a room
When bumping a user from the flyout window, you will now be notified of how many bumps you have remaining that day
A warning will now appear when users attempt to close multiple session windows at once
Users will now see typing and speaking notifications for themselves, as well as other users in a session
When scrolling back up through a conversation to review, the window will no longer return to the bottom of the text when a new message is entered into the chat window. Once the user returns the scroll bar back to the bottom of the window, it will resume normal scrolling when receiving new messages
The size of the Main and Session windows are saved now between uses
The ‘<’ sign is now supported

2.2 Audio

Fixed an issue where the Join Audio button was inactive for a particular room even after logging out and back in
The “Join Audio” button will no longer be unavailable when joining rooms
If a user mutes their microphone and then leaves a room prior to un-muting it, Voon will now properly recognize they are muted when rejoining an audio session

2.3 Recording

When moving between multiple sessions while recording in one, it will no longer appear that recording has stopped when returning to the session you are recording
Saving your recording will now automatically default to single track only, however the option to save in multi-track will remain available
When saving in multi-track, users will now be given a warning regarding available disc space for large files, and the potential of lost content as a result of lack of space
During a file being saved, the cursor will now become the “wait” icon associated with the user’s preferences for their operating system
A warning will now be given if a user attempts to leave audio or close the client while saving a recording file

2.4 Friend List

Removing a friend from your Friends list, and then re-adding them will now show them online upon re-adding them
When adding users to the “Blocked” list, you will no longer see “<user> is already blocked” upon next login of Voon

2.5 Rooms

When joining a room, the message “xxx has joined the room” will no longer incorrectly display the last user in the roster list. It will now properly display your username as you enter
When selecting a user on the roster list, and then scrolling through the list, it will no longer revert back to the user you have selected, thus allowing you to properly scroll through it
The number of users and friends in a room are now displayed in the room list and updates every 5 seconds
Rooms can now be sorted by number of users and number of friends currently in them
Room properties will no longer appear to allow changing of room ownership
If you have your “View” filter set to “Rooms I Moderate” and add a room to your list that you are not a moderator of, the filter will default to “All Rooms”. If you are a moderator of the room, the filter will not change
Users will no longer receive the error “Another command is already in progress” while attempting to join a room
It is no longer necessary to first bookmark a password-protected room before being able to join it
Users can now choose to save the password to protected rooms

2.6 Person-to-Person Calling

Calling a friend will no longer open a session window with no roster list, no connection, and no errors. Users will now receive an error if the call does not connect properly
When calling a user, we will now inform you only that “<user> is offline”, rather than “<user> is temporarily offline”

2.7 Instant Messaging

Users will no longer have incoming instant messages force their cursor into the Voon text box, thus stealing focus from their current active window
When closing a session window while in other rooms/sessions, users will no longer receive the error that the “session_handle” does not exist
Focus will no longer be redirected when a user clicks on buttons or the session flyout while in a instant messaging session

2.8 Events

We now correctly limit the size allowed for event descriptions in the Create Event dialogue, so that descriptions will no longer be truncated on the Events list or the website
Users can now create events of the same name and at the same time in the same room on different days, allowing for repeated daily events to be scheduled

2.9 Miscellaneous

Corrected issues with text being cut off in various locations. Text will now be elided in these cases

3 Known Issues
3.1 Events

It is not possible to change the name of an Event or the Room associated with an Event. If an Event is created in the incorrect Room or is incorrectly named, cancel that Event and create a new one

3.2 Joining Rooms

The maximum number of users in a room is 75
Voon supports joining a maximum of six rooms. Voon may allow you to join more rooms, but its behavior is undefined if you join more than six rooms

3.3 Push to Talk

The Function keys are not supported in setting PTT keys
If you choose an alphanumeric key or combine the “Alt” key with an alphanumeric key, then you will see one occurrence of the alphanumeric character when you use PTT. For example, choosing “Left-Alt + x” as your PTT setting will result in a single occurrence of the letter ‘x’ appearing when you use the PTT key
You may find that the PTT key does not work when you first use it after starting Voon. In this case, please use the “Set Push-to-Talk Key” option under the gear icon to reset the PTT key

3.4 Client-Side Recording
Single-track wav files take the form:

<ChannelName>.<Username>.Timestamp.wav

Multi-track wav files recorded in a room take the form:

<sip-identifier-for-room>-<username>@vxp.vivox.com.wav

Example:
1225413120-confctl-25@vxp.vivox.com-username@vxp.vivox.com
Multi-track wav files recorded in P2P audio calls take the form:

1225740476-Unknown-Channel(2184038122)-username@vxp.vivox.com
We recommend that you not answer incoming P2P calls while you are in the middle of a recording. Your recording will stop and Voon will not be able to save your recording in this case
Your first recording on your system may fail. Please try a test recording to set up any required directories. Subsequent attempts to save your recording should work
If more than three users record a session simultaneously, then it is likely that the “Start Record” button will revert to red. However, the recording will remain in progress until the “Save Record” button is pressed

3.5 Incoming P2P Audio Calls
If you receive an incoming p2p audio call from a user with whom you are in an active Instant Messaging session (in other words, the IM session has focus in your session window), and that user calls you, then the message “<user> is calling you. Click on the answer button to accept the call” will be cut off unless you have resized the session window to accommodate the message
If you answer an Incoming P2P audio call and choose to IM the caller, the caller will get a “declined” message in their session window
3.6 Instant Messaging
HTTP links in IM require the http:// or the https:// prefix in order to be active in the window
3.7 Session Window
The IM input window loses focus when you click on the Join Audio or Leave Audio button
If you join a room and you do not see a participant list, or an icon for the room session does not appear in the session window, then you should close the session window and retry
If the informational message “Another command is already in progress.” appears after exiting a room, then please exit your Voon session and restart
You may encounter various issues when changing your audio connection from a room to person-to-person audio. For example, an incoming P2P call may continue to ring even after you answer it
3.8 Blocking and Unblocking Users
You will not get a confirmation or other visual indicator that a user has been blocked. You can view the users you have blocked by bringing up the Privacy Settings dialog
The “Unblock User” option will appear under the Friends->Manage menu when you have selected a blocked friend. If you choose to unblock the user, the “Unblock User” option will be sticky until you navigate away from the user you just unblocked
Blocking a user does not block the user’s audio or text while you are in a room. You may mute a user’s audio by right clicking on his or her name in the flyout, and selecting “Mute User for Me”
Attempting to IM a user who has blocked you will appear to work
If you block a user who has you on his Friends list, then you will see a “User is already blocked” message if you logout and log back in to Voon. The message will not appear after you exit Voon and log back in
3.9 Room Properties

To remove a password from a room, you need to delete the entered password and uncheck the “Set Password” box in the Room Properties menu
If you are viewing the list of rooms you moderate and add a room to your list, then the list view will change to “All Rooms”, but the View menu will still have “Rooms I Moderate” selected
If you enter a password-protected room and it is the first room you are joining in the session window, then you will see the room in the session window in a disconnected state (name will be in italics) as well as the password challenge. You will be required to enter a correct password before you are able to participate in the room, although it may appear that your IM’s are being sent
No error message is given when the creator of a room attempts to remove herself as a moderator of said room and the change will appear to be successful. However, the creator of a room cannot be removed as a moderator of that room
3.10 General UI
3.10.1 Main Window
Voon window size and sort settings are not sticky across logins
The Voon cursor may occasionally take the shape of the resize cursor. However, this will not prevent you from using all of the features in Voon
Some text may appear to be cut off when using Windows XP Classic Mode. You may be able to rectify this by changing the DPI of your text to 96
3.10.2 Network Connection
The Voon UI may not log you out of Voon on a network disconnect. You must exit the application using the “Exit Voon” option under the gear icon
The Voon UI is likely to get into an inconsistent state when changing networks across a system standby or hibernate. In other words, if you are using Voon while connected to a particular network, then put your system into standby or hibernate, and finally resume your session such that you connect to a different network, Voon is likely to be in an unreliable state. In this case, you will need to exit Voon and restart it
3.10.3 Miscellaneous
Usernames with spaces in them are accepted at registration, however can cause an error when attempting to assign such username as a Moderator to a room
