I've been wondering about this for a while. Why did they remove the creation of newbied items in the game? It's never been an unbalancing thing... I mean... how big of a deal is a pair of scissors that stays with you, or a kryss? No one's going to annihilate anyone in this game now with a plain dagger or a smith's hammer.

It was always a nice touch, to have these things that always stayed with you. Yes, I understand they aren't necessary with insurance... but why not leave well enough alone?

Many of the old *noobied* items can be attained through new player quests. Others such as a blessed dagger (someones dagger?) can be found as loot on specific creatures, which are also part of quests.

I think a lot of the problem is extra items taxing the server...getting rid of the blessed items perhaps lessened some of the load. (my guess)

lol... of all the things they could potentially get rid of, they get rid of that? I mean... seeds alone probably account fora massive number of items per server. lol. I mean, I've got hundreds in my house alone!

I still have a few (practtice) bows, a sword and a few maces. Keeping them for nostalgic value, of cause nostalgia can be bought for a price...

Prior to AoS a friend and I ran thieves in all newbied stuff..

wizard hat
doublet
fancy shirt
skirt
leather gloves
boots

Peach and Apple were our names, we dyed our clothes appropriate colours. We had stupid catch phrases like "Apple is Rotten to the CORE" and "Life's a Peach and then you DIE".. stupid though fun. :D

Newbied items seemed harmless enough.. an extra layer of annoyance for people when my thief just sprang back up after death completely unfazed.

Back in the day you could get a newbie sword and I believe a shield(wooden?). Anyone could use a DP'd weapon and this made for a perfect back into the battle setup.

I have some scissors on my tamer and some drums on a crafter. I also have clothes, some blessed regs and other random items sitting around.

It was changed after insurance was introduced. I would love to get newbiefied lockpicks again...those things break quite often...and regs...stackable stuff that can't be insured...
