Arnie...if you could bring your real char to Test...you would have to be able to bring them back from Test.
That would be a can of worms that no one would want to deal with.
Talk about a chance to exploit...Lordy...

I believe he means to be able to copy your char that you have on a real shard onto a test shard. That way you have completed suits and skill and jewelry that is needed to play your templates the way they were intended.

Fair enough. One would have to think, though, that some industrious person with a significant enough knowledge of code manipulation might be able to figure out a way to copy a char Back from the Test Center, or Retribution Shard, To a regular or Prodo Shard, maybe.
Not saying they would, for sure...but folks have been quite ingenious in perpetrating these types of activities...i.e. Duping, Char Transfers in General...you know...
Anyway...seems like a rather large liability, in my opinion. Maybe it isn't, and would be perfectly safe from any ill intentioned activities...just doesn't seem so to me. But I appreciate the clarification.

It's not, they've done Test Center copies of real shards several times.

That's not possible. If it were, it would have been done to Siege by now. (Transporting on and off)
Heck, if they could transfer off TC to regular shard, they would be doing it as we speak. Having a copy of one's regular character isn't going to affect that.

What reason would you have to have to do that? If you want to spend the time using runics to make the armor and equipment your production server characters have you can. I could see pets being the only reason as finding a pet to rival the ones people spend hours looking for could be a definite problem.

Nope... WoW already does it.. you can copy chars to their test shards and play. Its done VIA website.

Open Beta has nothing to do with Test Center, only Retribution.

First off, recreating a suit every single time TC wipes gets really old. Secondly, using a character we're not used to negatively affects combat performance: it's a psychological thing, not a mathematical one.
To sum it up, basically it sucks recreating a suit every single time Test Center wipes. Takes quite a few hours to get it right.

I know, but you gave a universal answer when it should have been a particular answer. :)
You seemingly dismissed the entire debate as meaningless since open beta is about to end, but I verified that the topic extends beyond retribution.

The only annoying thing about test center is having to use runics to make armor/weapons. You have to spend up to an hour crafting, trying to get together your suit. If they just made an interface where you could set the properties you want to an item it would only take 5 minutes to setup a character.

Test if for just that TESTING out new stuff and if you choose new templates why would you want to take somthing you already have and know how to use to Test? I do not think this is anyhting that the OP means.
I think he was more referring to Retribution, which ends today so not really an issue but in hind site it is also a TEST shard or BETA so the developer can make sure everything is working out fine.
It is sad that there are players who are using it to figure out weak points for exploitation or simply so they know more than you and there can also exploit their knowledge. Stealables come to mind if it wasnt for a few generous individuals we would be at the mercy of a few who found these items and would have horded them until the information was finally relesed.
There is really no reason why you should really need to put a exact copy of your char onto a Beta Shard.
Its easy to create Chars its just the items you are worried about ???

Yes, there is a reason. No, I don't understand what the technical issues are (beyond whatever issues block characters transfers between servers at different patch levels).
Yes, I have asked for it in the past and once actually did get a reply. I don't remember the exact wording, but the hushed, far-away tone of the coder reminded me a bit of an old mariner being asked to retell the tale of the first time he threw a fabled fishing net into the deep sea.

There are lots of things that need to be tested when fighting monsters and other players. Having to spend time crafting a suit of equipment together is tedious and time consuming.
