I guess that solves her problem of having to look for a new house to move into. :D

I wonder if we'll see Iyona Kondo or Baron Lenshire again in future events.

I guess that whole "get 'voted' King by the council you select" thing didn't work out so well, huh?

Then again, in a perfect world, I'd rather get the *players* involved in a representative government for UO, not a fictional group of NPCs. Other games have made a great success of that concept.

Draconi.... If you can bring THAT into game I'd be pleased. Though you do know on some shards we've had that for a long time.... though it would be super cool if we could actually pass "laws" that effected things.

Even nicer would be a way to "approve" things like additions to the fairgrounds. New roads, stables in cities like Vesper... and things and have that "happen"...

Uhm ... so where does that leave faction fiction? If we now have a queen (one that is not represented by factions), then what are the factions fighting over?

A Queen for Britannians, a Queen for Gargoyles. Long lives to the Queens!

Sl crushed, TB loyal to an abdicated King, Minax loyal to a leader who has been mia for years and COM who are based in a town that was blown to bits.
So much fiction is created in this game and then dumped for the next project willy nilly.

And what was the purpose of the dragon fights then?
We were told it would affect the very nature of Factions?

Does that just mean their all fighting over nothing now?

So many loose ends to the story arc.......

So Sherry the Mouse posted this?
Does this mean that the mouse is actually working now these days (the statuette I mean)? Haven't had one for a looong time and cant check myself...

I am happy to read this!

Why not let the players determine the fate of their world? In certain boundaries, of course. I would very much like that.

Let it be known:

I never voted for Dawn.

I still want to know one thing... well, two things.
1. Where is Ricardo?
2. Where is Avery?

This pirate will not rest until he is assured of the freedom of these two falsely accused heroes or the discovery of their corpses.

2. Where is Avery?

Though officially unconfirmed, reading carefully the Live Events stories you get a hint that Sherry the Mouse helped them to escape and that they later joined Dawn in the Resistance. I wouldn't be surprised if they were nominated ministers in the new Royal Council :P

Sources:

From Rags to Riches (http://www.uoherald.com/liveevents/event.php?eventid=8)

Britannia's thief thrust a hand forward, motioning him to stop. "A lord. My, my, and Royal Ambassador?" Avery managed half a nod and Ricardo continued, "Why, he'll be King at this rate!"

Avery looked up, the pieces all finally falling into place for the loyal soldier.

Without warning a third voice broke through the gloom - a high pitched voice, and somehow tiny.

"Excuse me," Sherry the mouse squeaked, "Need a paw?"

The Bell of Courage (http://www.uoherald.com/liveevents/event.php?eventid=69)

She [Dawn] looked out upon the assemblage below, a sea of faces all now familiar. Her friends, her followers, simply strangers a few weeks before, now bonded together by blood and fire. Beyond the crowd a slow mist rolled in from the shore, and for a moment, in that deepening fog, she could see all who had ever stood beside her, all who were left behind.

Her eyes caught those of her most loyal comrades, among them a master thief, a grizzled soldier, a young mage, and even a tiny mouse.

The master thief and grizzled soldier are probably Ricardo and Avery, the young mage is probably Dexter the apprentice and the tiny mouse is obviously Sherry.

But Draconi!!! I wanted to see Casca die and dance on his corpse!!!

Me too!
How did he die?
Did the Resistance storm the castle and execute him?
Did he die fighting for the Shadowlord?
Did he wither when his master Faulinei was destroyed?
Was he the mortal shell of Faulinei?

We want to know!

Leadership is defnitely a relative term.

And I hope that the shard EMs will be able to act as effective leaders. They have a chance to "rule" in a way that has, until now, not been possible with the absent Lord British who would not relinquish his "power" (old Napa residents may remember the "Diamond Incident") and the lack of EMs over the following years.

It's a very exciting time in the lands. I'm torn between hope that they won't ruin it and fear that they will.

(I especially like that the Sonoma EMs have immediately taken this ball and are running with it. I hope more shard EMs will follow shortly.)

So they (whoever they are) have made Dawn Queen, but shouldn't they be more worried about the huge volcano that just went off and the amount of flying Gargoyles appearing in Britannia?

I know id be a little worried if i was stood in Luna bank when a Gargoyle suddenly walked up and started talking to me.

Really? Dawn as queen?

Ugh.

I can't lie, I wish there was more of a consensus reached about this by the players. I wasn't impressed by Dawn the first time around, this time is no better. Instead of slapping a band aid on it, maybe the team should have left the rulership of Britannia alone for a bit and actually WORKED ON ways to let players have more of an ability to do things as even Draconi himself stated.

Always seems to be the 'path of least resistance' mentality over at the UO offices.

Just curiosly - and in a totally non-binding fashion - to what extent do you wish this to happen?

Could there be any purely theoretical - and once again totally non-binding - examples that you give regarding various levels of how this could happen?

*cough* Would dearly love to join in the celebrations of crowning of Queen Dawn, however, Europa isn't appearing in the shard lists, and when it does, it takes a nosedive again soon afterwards. *cough*

I dont think she should have been crowned so soon anyway.
We just got rid of one that stole the throne to be given another that not many will remember, or have even seen (since she only appeared again the other week)
She should have worked on her role as champion of the shadowlords war and held a few more events before you dumped the title of Queen on her.

The way you have done it is only gonna cause resentment for the character as nobody had a say in the coronation or the celebrations? I mean c'mon, when has a monarch been crowned and it not been a holliday?

Yes! If an elected council could issue formal "building permits" that allowed players to construct only what is deemed by the council to be proper, and if these permits required mucho supplies, there may be a way to do this in an orderly fashion and with the kind of control the game would need. Lets put hirelings to work!

What have the pointy eared usurper done for any of y'all lately other than to deceive, bamboozle or hatch defective plots for his own evil and manipulating purposes. Good riddance to bad elvin blood I say. Just wish I knew where the bastage is hiding so I can dispatch him with much glee meself.

A queen would be much better than that cowardly dimwit. Perhaps Dawn is pro tempore, one never knows these days. Having said that, I am one that asked for a queen (drag or otherwise didn't matter) and am thrilled. She has my support for however long she reigns.

Well according to the news from the OP, he's dead. The False King is dead. Long Live the Queen!

And while I agree, making Dawn the queen is a good thing. This was handled poorly. It was like they just gave up on creating any kind of real fiction and summed it up with a by-line. I'm really disappointed.. especially since they aluded that some shards could have wound up keeping Casca if they sided with him, etc., but I don't recall that even being an option in the in game fiction (not that I would have - but they made this sound as if it were going to be so much more and instead they just made a decision, made the change and told us about it afterwards.)

Dawn's married.

;)

The husband doesn't seem to be King, though. I'm pretty sure Queen Elizabeth II of the UK is married, but her husband isn't King, so this has precedent.

Dawn's being married is what I will call "unintended lore." One of the devs who didn't like the character, Cathat I believe, made an off-hand comment that she had "married and retired to Yew."

And thus, lore was begun. The GL EM has worked it into her fiction, I can't speak for the other EMs. I put it in the UO Guide article on Dawn.

http://www.uoguide.com/Dawn

Which I am right now in the process of updating to reflect her ascension to the throne.

Uhm ... so where does that leave faction fiction? If we now have a queen (one that is not represented by factions), then what are the factions fighting over?

That's an easy one. They band together for the good of all, brutally execute her and anyone loyal to her in public, and then resume warring each other.
