I live in South Korea and while visiting a PC room, I went ahead and downloaded the game. I went through UO's site directly and for some reason the game commands are set totally in french. Why? How can I change this?

sounds like the Win-doze default language setting might be French. Check it in the Control Panel and change to English there.
In XP: Start ==> Settings ==> Control Panel ==> Regional and Language Options
You want the tab for "Regional Options" and change the language in the dropdown to English.

Hahahah,
I can understand french (but I've realized my french has gotten reeeally bad after taking a year off), but I would really like to just play in my native language to make it easy.
Also, the default language on the computer is Korean, not french.

Open the uo.cfg file in a text editor (Notepad will do). See if there is a line like this UserLanguageCodeString=
if not, add one. If you want it to display in US English add "ENU" after the equal sign. Someone else may have to find the correct abbreviation if you want a language other than US English since that's the only one I remember right now.
