View Full Version : Key phrase to recognize Stratics toons

What do you think of designating a little-used phrase in speedchat to identify yourself as a Stratics Forums reader? Something like "Special Delivery" out of the blue, or maybe "Welcome to Toontown" said twice in succession. I think it would be handy for secondary toons who are not friends already and show up for boss runs, etc. It's not always easy to make sure a toon has friends around for these things.
Trish - have you guys tried something like this? Is it totally unworkable?

I agree that is a great phrase to use. Also I have seen groups that have there members listed on a excel spreadsheet and which toons they have. Trish is there anyway we can do that? It might be too impossible to do. We can get people to reply to a thread with there toons name and that way we can tell who is part of our group. Just an idea.

Well, that is a good idea, but don't you have to buy that phrase? Or is int in battle taunts or something?

I was thinking we should use a phrase that is available to a brand new toon, so that if someone started a new one, they could use it immediately.
RE the spreadsheet idea, who would love the responsibility of keeping THAT up to date? We used to have a thread with people's stats, but I don't think anyone remembered to update it when they gained laff, etc. I don't think I have since signing up in Feb. But maybe it's time for a new one??

Well remember this is our temporary home while the geniuses restore the data... In the past if I saw someone I didn't know, I would do a search for the toon name here, because we had that thread where we all named possible boss battling toons. That worked out fine, but there are friends of Chanty's who come and don't post here, same with Wolfie. And of course people bring friends and there's nothing wrong with any of these things... also people who lurk and for whatever reason don't join into our community. And all that said, I suppose the phrase should be something from the basic menu, not something to buy. Like "Bring it on!" or something...

Glancing thru our handy dandy guide (http://toontown.stratics.com/content/gameplay/speedchat/) I figured that "Whoopee!" might work, although we could use "Let's go to Goofy Speedway!" cause who ever says that to a non-sf? Or.. "Special Delivery!" cause that wouldn't make sense in a non-battle situation. "Rock and Roll" always works for me tho, I love that phrase, along with "Bring it on!"

You guys are TOO much!! Love nerds, by the way. My daughter reminds of the fact that I am also a nerd. Like spreadsheet idea. I used to do that for a living, so if we can use it, I would be happy to keep one, let me know what info to include. I could post it some where that everybody could have access to on a photo site or where anyone else can come up with for easy access.:)

We had one of those, actually. Weebles was running it. Can't link you because it was on the other forums and Weebles has since quit the game. It worked out great for the first month or so

Maybe we should come up with the phrase to say and one to reply to it, like if someone says "Don't use Sound on lured Cogs." then someone says back something like "Use the SpeedChat." Maybe we could even always have the same shirt so you know who to say the SpeedChat phrase to.

Let's all wear the seasonal outfits. Since St. Patty's day was the last real holiday with clothes, let's all wear the green St. Patty's day shirt with the rainbow on it and the matching pants. :D

Some of us are. I've had a couple of people use it with me already. Doesn't mean it's the official phrase, only that it's been used so far.

We're still kind of all over the map on this in my opinion. Maybe we should have Trish & the other admin people form a committe to hash it out and tell the rest of us what they come up with. I kind of liked "Bring it On!" rather than the bossy-sounding "Don't use sound ..."
I don't know that I'd like my toon to wear a uniform except for special occasions like boss runs or something. I like to change her everyday.

I saw Missus Hoggat on the street yesterday while I was on my small toon, Atta D'Bleu. I couldn't remember the phrase so just whispered a wave to her. She ignored me! LOL! Just remember Missus Hoggat, even us little toons might be know you on our bigger toons! Be kind to us noobs! LOL!

True we do need something. I tend to say hi back though no matter who I think it is because you just never know who is behind that toon.

LOL! I couldn't do that to her! I get that all the time on my big toon. I do wave or say hi to those that wave to me first, no matter their laff. I just make sure I have my friends option turned OFF before doing so. LOL!

Actually I have played with Allison quite a feww times. We have a mutual friend. I am sure thats how she knew we were stratics. But its almost impossible to know everyone on this site. I used to get random Hi's all the time. And I always reply nicely back cause they did nothing worng by being friendly. Most of the time when I get a random Hi its from someone who recognizes me anyway. Thats when I go to stratics and check the hot sheets to figure out who said hi.
So keep the Hi's coming. There is always room for a nice gesture from UGLY WRINKLEFLIP. Unless you intentionally let me go sad in battle.

I think the opposite happened to me my first day back on TT. I think Sheriff Tricky spoke and may have even asked me to be a friend, but I was so happy to be back online, I was just skipping around. Sorry about that. :)

Someone at the beanfest said Welcome to TT, Bring it on, Rock and Roll. At first I thought it was a non Stratis friend of mine on another toon that I don't know. Now I'm thinking it was someone from Stratics that got it a little wrong. Either way I think having 3 phrases is too much for this old mind to remember! I like Flippers Special Delivery phrase. Short and to the point. LOL!
