If you have 50 or more Bushido, you may honor your foe to go into "honorable combat"
Each hit increases your degree of perfection - a miss will at least reduce, in some cases to 0, your degree of perfection. 10 steps is the highest one can go.
When the oppenent dies, the Samurai will get a luck bonus for that kill of 100 times the degree of perfection (0 to 10).

10 steps assuming 120 bushido...
if you have say, 90 bushido, it takes something like 14 or so consecutive hits without a miss to achieve perfection.
If you miss, you drop 3 "steps", this can take you back to zero quite quickly if you miss

Luck = Luck from items worns + Luck from Perfection + Luck from the 10th anniversary Luck Statue.
If you are doing Peerless or champ in a group, and you are an archer or dexer with bushido, ask the group to allow you to honor the Peerless boss and damage it first before anyone else. If you do the most damage, which is highly likely as you get a massive damage bonus from perfection, the items spawned for everyone will be better, as the quality of the items dropped are determined from the luck of the highest damager.

I want to add that the extra luck from the Luck Statue is bogus. New UO players are just as important as 9 year vets. Everyone should get the same amount of bonus luck. I think it is a bad design decision, and it says to new players that they are not valued.

I'm pretty sure that you're incorrect. It's ten steps for anyone with 50+ bushido.

Actually, it's 10 steps of Perfection no matter what level you're at up to GM level (100 Bushido). The amount of luck (and damage bonus) is determined by your overall skill level. For a Samurai of 50 skill, each step is a 5% damage bonus and a 50 luck bonus to the target he honored, with a Samurai in training receiving a 1% damage increase and 10 Luck increase to each level of Perfection per 10 full skill points gained, up to 100 Bushido.

Its always 10 steps but if you have 120 bushido you will be doing more damage per step than you would at lower levels.

Actually, that's incorrect as well. 100 Bushido puts you at the max amount of damage increase you get with Perfection. The benefit of having 120 Bushido vs 100 is that you have an additional 7% chance to land a critical strike. GM Bushido gives you a 13% chance whereas 120 gives you a 20% chance.

Hehe, I had an advantage. :lick:
Another thing for the OP to keep in mind is that Luck from Perfection will not show as an increase on the Status Bar, which only tracks the physical amount of Luck present on the characters suit along with any bonus from the Luck Statue.

Connor is correct. The damage bonus is 10% per level of Perfection, up to 100% when one Acheives Perfection.

I think they changed it with a publish. Like 15 steps at 50, 9 steps at 120. If you are inbetween it falls inbetween. I am 120, takes me 9 steps.

I am 120 on my main as well and I'm pretty sure it still takes 10. I'll test it later though, can't play right now.

Link?
I'll have to check that out myself. Last time I tested it, it was still at 10 steps for Perfection. That was several months ago though. If there's a change then an update to the Bushido page is in order.
