Normally this place is fairly active. It seems lately people aren't even posting in the Nak thread.

Tough times are tough, and you guys got some bad news recently, but all the more reason to band together and have fun with whatcha got, right?

Let me put it this way. Is there a way to make sure a guy holds up his part in the deal?

I see people on forums using perhaps legal website to do deals. Whether is a legal website or not, I do not know. Hard to say. Does anyone understand my meaning? Please help! :pint:

And is there a way to recover a password from an old account email when you registered a new email for the account? Phone ea or soomething?

UOCartographer beta, now available! (new UOAM)

UOCartographer (aka UOC) is a free replacement for UOAutomap. It's features include support for the new lands of Ter Mur and compatibilty with the Enhanced Client (EC).

You can get the latest/current version from the following URL:

You will need the .NET 2.0 framework to use it, but most people should have it already. Otherwise you can get it from the Microsoft website.

After installing it, when you run it for the first time it will build the maps. This may take a few minutes. If this fails for some reason, right click on the map window and choose Options and make sure the paths to the client and the client selection are correct. You may need to restart it if you do this.

After the maps have been built you should be good to go. In 2D/Classic you must be running UOAssist for it to track you. In the EC you will need to copy MapWindow.lua from the installation directory to your /User Interface//Source/ directory. There are more details in the ReadMe.txt file.

There is a seperate server program so you can get everyone together. To use this have someone run the server, pick a port from the options window (address does nothing) and make sure they open it on their router/firewall (UDP port 11000 is the default, or should be). You can choose to use a global password like UOAM or per user accounts. Global password is probably the easiest for now. Your friends can now connect by going to the options window and entering the IP and port of the server, choosing a username and entering the password. Checking "Show Status" will add a little red/green indicator to the UI so you can see if you are connected or not. Then pick "Connect" from the right-click menu to connect.

UOC can use the UOAM ".map" marker files and several are included.

You can scroll the map by left clicking and dragging. You can also "flick" the map in the same manner to scroll quickly. Double clicking will toggle borderless mode and the mousewheel will zoom in and out.

Phew! This is pretty long already. Feel free to try it out and let me know in this thread if you have any problems or questions. I'm not here 24/7 but I'll try and respond as soon as I can :)

I have just started a new character and was noticing that my stats had stopped increasing. I tried a variety of things, but as soon as I took off the gargoyle only stat increasing armor, my stats started to gain much more quickly.

Also, fyi, my armor was only +1 int, but it was stopping str.

Thomas Urquhart III, a friend of mine in real life, died from a fatal car crash in Louisiana on November 7th. Better known to UO pvpers on Great Lakes as Xuk’Luk [Urk], Lanto Malint, Kyle Malint, and Tolken Daire (most of his characters had the surnames Malint or Daire), he made an impression on the factions and RP scene in the years he played. Though many of the people who played with Thomas have since left to play other games, doubtless there are many here who fought either against him or alongside him over the years.

Regardless of who he played with, or against, he always kept it honorable, and he would as soon chat as fight with you. Over the years we were rarely on the same side, we were orange to one another far longer than we were green, but that never stopped us from helping each other. In life he was charismatic, good-hearted, and funny--traits that often carried over to his characters.

One of the most vivid memories I have of Thomas in game is an RP battle in Tram, many years ago. Thomas and I were fighting alongside one another in the Undead Legion. Kael Ashtar led the Legion into Yew to attack the Militia. (Kael, the GM of UL, had introduced Thomas and me to UO. We were all friends in real life, and Thomas actually lived with Kael at the time). The Undead Legion fought the Militia in Yew and defeated them—remarkable considering UL rarely, if ever had a strong showing. The militia was crawling from the field when a gate opened at the bank and oranges started to pour out of it. The Highland Guard had gated in to defend their allies, and UL scattered, the few too slow to move were quickly dropped.

With most of the Legion dispersed, leaving me (on Gravakiv) and Thomas (on Kyle Malint) against roughly eight Highland Guard, I thought we would leave, but Thomas laughing, said he had three or four on him and that he was going to stay and fight. We began to circle the buildings in Yew, striking quickly and running as soon as more Guard came on the screen. We did not plan tactics, but it was effortless, and we worked as if we had the same mind. I was using a kryss and Thomas was using the Berserker’s Maul. I would poison and armor ignore, he would rush on screen and smash the unlucky victim with the maul. We did this time and time again, until only the two of us remained in Yew, counting the gold we had made from the fight. He beat me at 60k—I had only pulled 37k.

Years later, Thomas and I would still talk about that battle and laugh, often over a beer or a burger. We would laugh over victories and defeats with equal fervor, remembering great fights regardless of who carried the day. Undoubtedly, if he were here now we would do the same.

And that is how I will always remember Thomas, laughing and full of life--a good man, a good player, and a better friend.

Question about item count on vendors

Is there some way to see the number of items on my vendor without having to go item by item and do a manual count? I know we can see the number of items in bags inside the main bag, but haven't found any way to see the grand total of all bags, their contents and other items in the main pack.

If not, maybe the Devs would think of adding a total item count for vendors.

Owen Uther Arrested for Murder!

Owen turned over in his bed and listened to the sounds around his ranch house. In the next room, Owen could hear his wife Sara, putting on a warm kettle of coffee and bacon sizzling by the fire. Stretching lazily, Owen stole a few more moments of sleep. In the distance Owen heard his hunting dogs barking frantically. Instantly, Owen was fully awake and he quickly dressed and drew his new long sword.

The sound of a fist banging against the door caused Sara to drop the hot bread she had just taken out of the oven, sending the pan clattering across the floor. �Open in the name of the Queen.�

Owen charged into the kitchen passing his startled wife and unlatched the door �What is the meaning of this? What do you want?�

�Owen Uther. I am Luke, an Officer of the Royal Britannian Guard. You are under arrest by order of Judge Locke and to be tried in the Yew Court for murder.�

Owen frowned and dropped his long sword. �You will answer to Sheriff Brax and the Mayor for this outrage.�

Luke said nothing in response as the Royal Guards led Owen to the Britannia Prison but smiled calmly. The Royal Britannian Guards had thoroughly investigated the disappearance of Jes and Judge Locke believed that Owen was likely the killer. Luke glanced to the small clearing of trees behind the ranch house that he knew hid a shallow grave. Justice would be done with or without Sherriff Brax and his cronies!

Note: The Trial will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 8:00 PM EST

Two teams are needed to argue; one for the defense and one for the prosecution in Owen�s trial. Each team will be able to call and question witnesses and present evidence.

If you would like to participate in the trial, please send an email to EM Eris or EM Nestor by Sunday, November 22, 2009.

Please include if you would like to be on the defense or prosecution.

Preference for participation will be given to those who submitted the most detailed investigative reports.
