Been ages since I used Yahoo msg for windows but on mac when a friend logs in or out a little transparent notice window appears in the corner of the monitor. It displays the name and if they are logging in or out. That way I don't have to maximize yahoo to see who it was.

I've had the same thought, since I use Yahoo! all the time. Also, MSN brings up a window (although it is a helluva lot more annoying) that says who has logged in/out.
My question, where would you think to put this so that it doesn't interfere with other applications or projects, and yet you still see it? The same location that MSN/YIM do, or elsewhere? And how?
I envision just a small Voon logo and "<username> has logged in", like Yahoo does it. But I also abhor playing copycat.
